Hi everyone! Thanks so much for 4.2K reads. This one-shot is in Nico's POV, and it's set shortly after the war with Gaea. I'm sorry if I got any plot details wrong- let me know if I do. I hope you enjoy!
On a bleak Thursday morning at Camp Half-Blood, I was in the Hades cabin, lazily reading a book on the couch and planning for a relaxing day. I would go to training and other required events, and that would take up most of my day, but I would read and chill for the rest of the time. It sounded perfect- especially after the eventful months we had just experienced during the war with Gaea.
After about fifteen minutes, my peace was interrupted by the door being thrown open, letting the sunshine into my normally pale and gloomy cabin. I shut my eyes, not used to the sudden onslaught of light. There were many people who would do this at 10:15 in the morning, but I had a suspicion that it was my new boyfriend, Will.
"Nico!" Will exclaimed, just as I thought about how shocked I was that we were actually dating.
"Will," I grumbled, unable to keep the smile off my face.
"Aren't you bored of being cooped up at camp for so long?" Will asked, bouncing over to me and enveloping me in a giant hug. "It's the end of August, and I definitely need a change of scenery."
"I like the routine," I confessed, putting my book away so I could hug Will back.
"Oh, Neeks," Will sighed. "I know you do. But I had an amazing idea!"
"What?"
"We're going camping this weekend! I've already got permission from Chiron, and there's a nicer section of the forest that would be perfect for this." Will explained, growing more animated by the second.
"Really?" I asked, trying to keep the apprehension out of my voice. I had never been camping, but it didn't take much to know that I was a terrible outdoorsman. The closest I came to traditional camping activities was burning Happy Meals and living outside during quests. During those, I had mostly relied on other people for survival skills and just protected us instead.
"Yes!" Will practically squealed, squeezing me even tighter. "I know that you don't like to spend much time outside, but this will be so amazing! I love camping, and I have so much to teach you."
"Definitely," I said quietly as Will rambled about s'mores and campfires and fishing. This would be interesting, for sure.

On Saturday afternoon, Will and I stood at a scenic spot in the forest. Dryads chattered around us, and satyrs were grazing on anything in their path. Although I would much rather be inside, I had to admit the scene was very picturesque.
"What would you rather do, set up the tent or go look for some firewood?" Will asked, cheerfully holding an extremely full backpack.
Firewood didn't sound like a good idea, because I would probably be attacked by the dryads if I even tried to cut down a tree with my sword. However, I had no clue on how to set up a tent, so there was always the chance of it collapsing on us in the middle of the night. I decided to take my chances and set up the tent.
"Okay, I'll do the firewood, then. Do you know how to set up the tent?"
"No," I admitted sheepishly. "But I can probably figure it out."
"I think there's an instructions sheet in the tent-making kit- that should help," Will explained, pulling out the kit.
"Okay,"
"Good luck. I'll meet you here in an hour. If it's any later, then maybe you should be worried." Will said, coming over to plant a kiss on my forehead.
