The few days later, North was walking with Jane who asked many questions regarding the royal cotillion.
"Hey, can I talk to you for a moment?" Chad asked, coming up behind her. North nodded, and Jane hurried away.
"I'm sorry." They both apologized at the same time.
"I've just been so stressed out lately. It was getting to me." North explained, and Chad nodded.
"I get it. With all the craziness, we haven't been able to just be you and me." Chad said, softly. North nodded, and the two kissed.
They walked together as Chad complained about the heat. North nodded, and a gentle breeze blew through them. They stopped by her locker.
"W-wait, North. Was that you?" Chad looked around, and then to her locker. He noticed her bow and arrows, and the icicles dangling from the ceiling. "North, what the hell?"
North widened her eyes at being caught. She shook her head and frantically attempted to push Chad away from her using the wind.
"You're trying to attack me?"
"No, no, no. You don't understand. It's been so hard-"
"It's been hard for me too, North! I thought we were doing this together?"
"We are doing this together..."
"But we're not. You're keeping things from me, lying. This isn't the Isle of the Lost, North." Chad's reminder made North narrow her eyes. She shook her head.
"Believe me, I know that." She spat.
"Then, why are you doing this?" Chad asked, softer this time.
"Because, I'm not..one of those pretty pink princesses, Chad. I'm not a lady in court. I can't be a prissy princess anymore. I'm...a fake, okay? Everything's fake. I'm not going to stop using the powers I have. That's who I really am." North walked away with her bow, tears in her eyes. Chad called out for her, but she continued, picking up speed.
North ran to her dorm, ignoring everyone that looked at her confused. The tears fell from her eyes as soon as she made it to her room. She leaned against the door, letting out a sigh. Her eyes spotted her jacket, and she immediately took off her princess dress.
North changed into her leather outfit that she brought when she was still a villain. Hesitantly, she held her jacket. She shook her head and put on the jacket. North quickly wrote a note, storming outside.
