Riley felt as if she had been asleep for ten years plus with how drowsy she felt when she woke up to the beeping sound that was starting to annoy her. Groaning, she looked around the room to see her parents cuddled up on the sofa bed beside her."M-mom." She croaked out and waited to see if Wynter was going to get up.
When she got no response she reached over to grab a pen that was beside her bed and threw it at her to watch the pen bounced off of her mother onto the floor. "Mommy!" Riley tried shouting a little louder.
Wynter jumped off of Kerauns lap which caused him to wake up in a panic as well as they both stared at Riley. "You're awake. How are you feeling? Do your head still hurt? What about your sides? Tell me something."
Chuckling, Riley grabbed Wynter's hand. "I'm fine. How long was I out for?"
Wynter cleared her throat and squeezed in the bed next to Riley. "It's Kyree's birthday." She simply answered.
"H-his gifts. I was supposed to sign for it at th-."
Keraun held his hand up to stop her from talking. "It's already taken care of and I'm a little jealous that you didn't buy me one." He smiled.
"I was thinking about it. With all that space in the backyard, can you imagine the races we could have?"
"I bet that'll excite you. Good to see that you're okay kid. You scared us, especially Kaina."
"I scared myself. I didn't know what happened, I wasn't speeding or anything like that so I don't know how my steering wheel just stopped cooperating. It was working fine before I went into the shop."
"It was tampered with while you were in the store. The police stopped by yesterday with footage from the store's surveillance cameras and it was someone in all black that targeted your car but they didn't leave any evidence behind to indicate who it might've been." Wynter stressed.
Riley was stunned. She didn't know what to say in this instant because she had no idea on who was trying to target her all of a sudden. Staying in her own lane was something that she made sure she did every day of her life so whoever was upset with her—had absolutely no reason to even be mad.
"Don't stress it. We need to get out of here because we still need to make sure that Kyree's party is up to standards with his approval of course. I'll go get the nurse so we can get you discharged." Wynter patted Riley's leg and walked out of the room.
"Did you guys collect everything from the car?"
Keraun nodded, "Would you like to go home or stay with us for a little?"
Riley shrugged, truth be told she was kind of scared to even get back behind the wheel or even a car for that matter. The accident alone was traumatizing for her because it was her first one and she was alone through it all.
