calum🔆:
here i am waking up
sent 3:09 am

calum🔆:
still can't sleep on your side.
sent 3:09 am

calum🔆:
there's your coffee cup,
the lipstick stain fades with time
sent 3:10 am

calum🔆:
if i can dream long enough,
you'd tell me i'd be just fine.
sent 3:11 am

calum🔆:
so i drown it out, like i always do.
dancing through our house, with the ghost of you.
sent 3:12 am

calum🔆:
and i chase it down, with a shot of truth.
sent 3:13 am

calum🔆:
that my feet don't dance, like they did with you.
sent 3:14 am

calum🔆:
i love you.

and so he lay there, quiet sobs escaping his lips. what has he just done? he was upset, angry even, that he had cut the one thing keeping him "connected" to his one true love. he had never felt such feelings for anyone. nothing came remotely close to the feelings he had for her. 476 days they had been together and still, somehow he had that same feeling in his stomach when she walked in the room as he did the first day. was it love at first sight? he wouldn't call it that, but he knew it was something. their love was greater than what was in the books. the couple had their downs —as no relationship is completely perfect— especially just a few before she had passed. he had watched her walk out their door, tears caused by the argument they had just had streaming down her face. he didn't do anything. but what calum doesn't know was that he couldn't. it tore at him every waking hour, sometimes in his sleep too. the vision of his lover after her car had swerved off into a small ditch, flipped multiple times, haunted him. he lover her with everything he had. and when she passed, he stopped eating for days, he couldn't make it out of his bed, he couldn't answer his phone, he just laid on his bed all day. there was nothing on earth to love.
and so while calum was staring out the window, thoughts going a million miles an hour, he realized what he did was right. with every text message he sent, it was like a piece of him sent with it. he lost a little bit of himself and he knew he couldn't do it anymore.
he loved her, and little did he know, she was on the other side, loving him right back.

and that's the end of the story between calum and his fallen lover.
