Ivy's POV

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLIE!" We all shout when she comes down the stairs.

She has a big smile on her face when she realises we have presents for her in our hands.

She gasp when she sees her favourite breakfast on the kitchen bench and she runs down grabs a plate and starts serving herself.

I lean over to Rachel "I've never seen a child go for food over presents" I look at her and she looks at me as we turn our heads together to see Ellie with a mountain of waffles, chocolate, ice cream and strawberries.

We looks at each other again and laugh.

When Ellie comes over she puts her plate down on the floor and starts eating when she asks a question "can I please have my presents now?" She manages to get out with chocolate all over her face.

Louis laughs and nods his head.

Ellie claps like she's four and looks at me like she's expecting something. I laugh and I bring her present out and her smile grows.

I give it to her and she thanks me with a mouth still full of food and yanks it's out of my hand.

When she opens her present her face is beaming with joy.

"Ohhh I know what this is! Mum! Dad! We need to take pictures later so we can put them in the book!"
She screams out.

We all laugh and she opens other presents too.
After she opens them all Rachael speaks up "Ellie honey, you have your family and friends coming over today and I was wondering if you wanted Ivy and I to help you get ready today?"

She looks at me and I nod and smile "Yes please!!" She shouts we smile and she runs up to her room yelling "Come on!"

I laugh and follow her to her room.
It took us 2 hours to get Ellie looking her best and now she's super excited because everyone's here.

I walk to my room and quickly put on a short, spaghetti strap, reddish top with light blue jeans, my white converse and some crystal studs.

When I walk down, I'm greeted by many people I don't know. So I go back inside quickly, get my sketchbook and pens to then go outside and sit near a tree.

I look over to see Ellie greeting her friends and it struck a nerve in me, I think just because I want friends that would be that happy to see me after some time if it's after months and months or even a day.
I start to wonder if my friends back in Derry would greet me like that.

Oh well I'll never know if I don't go back.
And right now, I'm not sure if I should or not.

I look down to see I've drawn the word loser but on top of the 's' there's a dark 'v', it's the same thing Eddie had on his cast.

Eddie.

I sigh and continue with my sketching.

Suddenly Louis' voice snaps me out of my little trance "Ivy! Time to say happy birthday!" I smile and walk over to the table.

We're singing happy birthday and I look around to see a normal family, a big family, a happy family and I realised how happy and great fun I am for Uncle Louis to take me in to be apart of his family.

Once we stop singing, Ellie blows out the candles and she has a look of delight on her face.

"Can we go and play hide and seek now?" She asked Louis.
He nods his head and she screams in delight.

Her friends, herself and sibling of friends, including Gage, but not me, are all hiding while one of Ellie's friends are counting.

Gage goes and hides behind a car and Ellie goes and hides behind the big tree.

I go back to drawing when I hear the daily speeding truck driving up. I look up to see Gage start to run towards the road. I freeze then I scream "LOUIS!"

He looks at me and then sees where I'm looking at and he shouts "GAGE!" He runs after him and the truck is getting closer and closer. Before the truck hits Gage, Louis picks him up and swings him back.

The truck must've seen Louis and Gage at the last second because the truck suddenly turns and drifts to its side and drags against the ground missing Gage.

But the back of the truck, flies off and is dragging against the road and I turn to see Ellie standing there.

"ELLIE!" I scream at the top of my lungs.
Before I could do anything, the piece of the truck that was dragging against the road hits her.

I fell the colour drain from my face as I hear Rachael scream Ellie's name. As she runs over to where Ellie once was. I see Church brushing himself against my leg. I pick him up and I fell him licking my face.

I'm crying.

I'm walking next to the fallen truck as I'm following Louis to see where Ellie went.
I see Rachael fall to the ground in agony and in tears as Louis starts running to the side of the road. I can only just see Ellie in the ground as pale as a ghost and that's when I start to cry out loud even more.

I'm hugging the cat as I feeling him purring and I fall to my knees in tears.

I can hear everyone from the party start to slowly approach the scene and I think Rachael did to because she got up and I heard her speak in tears.

I continue to cry as I feel someone trying to get me off of the road I look up to see Jud and Church hisses at him.

His arms pick me up from underneath my shoulders as he tries to drag me away.
I try to free myself but it's not working.

It suddenly reminded me of when I was being dragged away by the clown and I started to shake uncontrollably.

"Time to float Ivy"

Jud let go and I fell and let go of the cat. I started to shake and I was on my back trying to breathe.

"Ivy..." I suddenly jolted up and ran inside. I could hear Church following me.

I run to my room and pull out a bag.

"If this goes to far, I'm going home" I mutter to myself as I pack a days worth of clothes, spare toothpaste, a full drink bottle, my sketchbook and one hundred dollars in cash.

I out the packed bag underneath my bed for safe keepings and I suddenly hit reality again.

Ellie's gone.

I lay on my bed and I silently cry to myself. I feel the cat sitting next to me, snuggling in.
I bring him closer and I hold him while we both fall asleep.
