Neither had mentioned what happened Sunday night, and it was now Thursday afternoon, just picked up Eve from school, and driving out to Tadfeild for the Halloween party they were invited to by the antichrist at the witch's cottage. They were currently stuck in traffic on the M25 of all the commuters wanting to get home before trick-or-treating started.
"I hope we won't be late," Aziraphale fret.
Crowley sighed, getting a bit fed up with the angel's worrying. He had been worrying about their costumes, how others would take their costumes, not to mention they left Eve's costume entirely up to her. They just let her gather what she wanted around the store and the bought it for her, without question of what it was, expecting it to be something along the lines of princess, ballerina, fairy, or ninja. They still weren't sure what she was drsssed as. She had a twig crown, with plenty of autum leaves sticking in it. A long black dress, and a white shall. Strapped on her back were a set of feathers wings. They assumed she just maticulously glued feathers to a set of fairy wings, as the top ones were white, and the bottom ones were black.
"What ch'ya doing monster?" Crowley asked, as it was too quiet for her. She wasn't singing along to Queen, Killer Queen, to be exact.
There was the sound of quick shifting from being him. A muffled, "Nothing," cam from the back.
Aziraphale turned around to see what was going around. He snickered as he saw Eve had gotten into the backed goods he was bring to the party. "No more Eve," Aziraphale scolded her, dispute finding her Crum covered face adorable, "There will be plenty of sweets at the party."
"Who'll be there?" the girl questioned, trying to lean closer to her parents.
A small smile spears on Aziraphale's face,as he continued to twist to face his daughter. "There will be our friends," he started explaining, as traffic started moving. "There's Anathema, she's American, and Newt, a not so-great computer engineer. Then there's Adam, Brian, Wenslydale, and Pepper. There all a bit older than you but I'm sure they'd be glad to be your friends."
They ladt word cause the giddiness to seep out of Eve. "Alright," she feigned happiness.
"What's wrong, Sweetums?" the angel questioned as Crowley spread down the country roads.
She shrugged, "Nothing," she said softly, with her gaze down at her thumbs. "I'm just not good at making friends." Or with people, as she has trust issues that stem from unknown origins. She was planning on just eating sweets and following her dads around all night.
"I'm sure you'll have no trouble befriending these four," Aziraphale assured her, reaching back, and wiping crums off of her cheek. "You'll make friends in no time Eve, you're the sweetest girl in the world."
She didn't want to get into it. She had a hard enough time at school. Most of all she didn't want to cause her dads to worry. "I'm gonna work on homework," she mumbled, and leaned forward to oull what she needed out of her backpack.
They both knew something was up, but felt it was better left to question for another day. They just left her alone until they arrived at Jasmine Cottage. By the number of bikes there, they could tell they were the last to arrive. "I told you we would be late," Azi complained as Crowley just rolled his eyes and helped Eve out of the car.
"Relax, Angel" the demon sighed, setting Eve onto the ground. He had expected her to run off, instead she stood right by his side. "We made it in record time."
"Time is relative," Eve perked up, "Everyone else is just early." Of course they knew what she was quoting. It was her favorite movie after all.
The two let out a concerned sigh, and continued on to the door of the cottage. Before they even got to the gate the door was opened for them. There stood Anathema, properly dressed as a witch, for once. "It looks like I wasn't the only one to not wear a costume," she joked.
Aziraphale and Crowley came dressed as a angel and demon, respectively. They (Aziraphale) tried their hardest to get something reminiscent of what they wore in the beginning. And of course they were using an excuse to stretch out their wings.
" Are they here?" Newt waddled into the doorway, trying his best not to damage his box-robot costume. He as well was amused at their costume choices.
"What lovely costumes," Aziraphale commented walking forward to the cottage. Eve was clinging to him from behind, barely peaking out, nervous around the knew people. "We brought treats to share as well."
Anathema held open the door for the group to walk with. "I don't believe we've met yet?" the witch crouched down to the girls height. Eve only gripped tighter onto Aziraphale, and inched ever closer.
The angel handed off the plate of Sweets to the demon, before picking up their child. "This is our daughter, Eve," Aziraphale introduced her, as she buried her face into hi shoulder. "She's being shy."
Everyone was stunned by the development. P course they knew the two were together, but to go as far as to have a child, they didn't expect. Even the children, who were sitting in the other room came to curiosity.
Pepper, being the most excites, and curious rushed out. "How old are you?" she asked the girl still hiding in her papa's arms.
Eve just watched her for a bit. From the shiny material of her alien costume thatatched her eyes, to the bouncing intenia on a head band. She didn't seem to be angry, or annoyed, something Eve has grown to expect from those around her age. Instead she looked excited. "Five," Eve said lightly, lossening her gropp on the angel.
Aziraphale took it as a sign it would be alright to set her down. "What's with your skin?" Brian asked. Eve instinctively hid her miscolores arm in the flods of her clothing. "It's cool."
The children were soon socializing with Eve, much to her confusion. She froze under the gaze of them. Just oneoment of eye contact and it caused her a great deal of discomfort. Not wanting to worry anyone she shook it off and tried her best to ignore it all.
