Eve was fast asleep before they even left Tadfeild. The music was kept off, as to not disturb her sleep, she did have school in the morning. The only sound heard in the Bentley was the soft snores of Eve in the back seat. They were not surprised on how quickly she fell asleep, even with the amount of sugar she consumed. Before trick-or-treating she was kept busy by Them. She shared knowledge of things they didn't know (and honestly no one knew) and they her. She drew plenty, causing the older kids the getting more and more excited with every line.
There was even a large event that happened that night. The children where on Anathema's laptop, as to assure they were telling the truth to the others. By some happenstance Newt came by to help, only cause the device to break down. Eve though, quickly fixed it. The next time Newton came to help, it actually did, and the device didn't break down. It was practically a miracle.
And that was all before they walked around the entire village of Tadfeild for candy. Plenty of half truths were told to the villagers ti explain the appearance of the small family. In a small village everyone knew everyone. They had been each of the Them's uncle's and cousin. Family friends from London. Or just people theyet as they went. At the next village gathering they were sure to learn they were all messed with by Them.
"It was nice getting together for a less stressful situation," Aziraphale commented softly. He couldn't just handle the silence. "It get the Them get along well with Eve. She was scared about them not before coming."
"Of course a trouble maker would be friends with other trouble makers," Crowley commented.
Aziraphale gasped, "Adam and his friends are not trouble makers."From the pranks to stunts that Eve pulls both were on the sound conclusions that Eve, indeed was a trouble maker.
Crowley softly laughed, "Angel, they road their bikes into a military base, if that's not something a trouble maker would do, I don't know what is."
Aziraphale opened up his mouth to refute, but only closed it and pouted, causing a smirk to appear on the Demons face. "Not like a trouble maker is a bad thing," Crowley shrugged, "People call me one all the time."
"You're a demon," Aziraphale politely reminded him, "You were, and I quote, 'sent up here to cause trouble'. You are the first trouble maker."
Crowley smirked as he swirved through the M25. "Then what dose that make you?" he questioned.
Aziraphale purst his lips as he thought. If he was going off of the demon's logic, he too would be a trouble maker. But besides the fact, he gave the flaming sword away, befriended a demon, and averted the apocalypse, Aziraphale couldn't see himself as a trouble maker. All he had done was out of kindness, and emotion. He had no intent of causing harm or making trouble. It was just something that happened.
Aziraphale never got the chance to answer. A liyd gasp came from the back seat. Glancing back he saw Eve in distress. She was throwing her head around, and her eyes clench closed. Loud, unintelligent noises gasped out of her like a plead for help. She was having a nightmare and a bad in at that.
The angel would have miracle it away in an instant, had it not been for one promise. He and Crowley promised shortly after adopting Eve to use as few miracles around her as possible. They wanted her to have a normal, human upbringing, and those usually don't have too many miracles happening.
Instead he reach back and lightly shook her leg. "Eve," he calmly called out. The only way to end the nightmare would be to wake her up from it.
At the slight touch she gasped awake, eyes wide and fearful, and arms flinched up in defense. Upon realization of where she was, she leaned back into the seat, with droppy eye lids.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Aziraphale offered, "Nightmares are usually obserd once you're awake." Eve just sleepily shook her head. Aziraphale reached back and stroked her knee in comfort. "Alright," he sighed, "But we're alway here for you."
They didn't notice she had fallen back asleep until they return to the bookshop. Crowley scooped her out of the car seat, making sure the loose grip in her candy bag didn't fail. She would be so upset with the lose of candy. They had never seen her eyes shine so bright as they had hqzung into a plastic grocery bag a fourth filled with candy.
"I'm headed off them," Crowley sighed, handing over Eve to Aziraphale. But Eve didn't let him. She clung onto him with all his might.
Her grip only got tighter the more they tried to get her off. "Don't go," she cried through her sleep, and wrapped her arms around the demon's neck.
"I guess you could stay the night," Aziraphale offered awkwardly, being remind of the last time the topic was bright up. "I've actually been sleeping now," a child could drain the energy out of anyone, and anything.
The angel was sure to bable on, but was stopped. Crowley was just as flustered with the topic in hand. It was strange, before he would easily stay the night. Everything change after Eve came into their lives. "She can stay at my place," he offered, "All her school things are here," he lifted up her back pack which had been in the arm that wasn't supporting Eve. "I can just bring her to school in the morning."
Aziraphale figdeted a but as he quickly thought. "Alright," he agreed reluctantly. He got comfort with someone he loved sleeping under the same roof. It was strange for him to sleep alone. "I'll see you tomorrow then." he quickly rushed over and gave Eve a kiss in her scrunched up forehead. It was not a kind nightmare. "Sweet dreams," he wished for her.
Once at the flat, Crowley was quick to crawl into bed. He was exhausted. He didn't find anything wrong with Eve sleeping in the same bed as him as well, she was his daught. Not to mention she had a death grip on him. He lightly hugged her back instinctively for how tight she clung to him. She gave off more warmth than he was used too from blankets, lulling him off to sleep quicker. He figured it would be nice to always sleep with someone he loved.
