"Who's Sam?" I ask, and they turn to look at me.
"Our roommate, baby cakes." Noah winks. I wanted to tell him that I had a boyfriend, but my breath hitched in my throat.
"S-S-Sam who?" I stammered. I was extremely flustered about Noah, he was somewhat handsome too, and his confidence stirred up something inside me.
"Sam Holland." He shrugged.
"Really?!" I dropped my fork, and widened my eyes. He smiled awkwardly, before nodding in response. I grabbed my phone from my back pocket and tapped onto Sam's chat.
You: Sam do you have a roommate called Noah? (19:47)
Sam: Yeah, why? (19:51)
You: I THINK WE LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE lksdfjdslkfjsdlfksdfusid (19:51)
Sam: Oh, cool. (19:56)
My heart sank at his dry reply. I looked back up from my phone, seeing as the girls ignored me as they ate, and the guy was eyeing me. I gulped, and tucked it back into my pocket.
"T-Turns out my b-b-boyfriend Sam lives here too." I shrugged, and Noah arched an eyebrow.
"You guys don't talk enough if you didn't know where he lived."
Was he right? Did we not talk enough? Were we being a little distant lately?
"But hey, maybe it's just my logic." He shrugged, and stood up. He grabbed his plate of food, and put it on the sink. I lost my appetite at the thought. Could it explain his dry text? I grabbed my half filled box of food, and threw it in the trash.
"Are you not eating anymore?" Lily asked
"No, sorry. I lost my appetite." I mutter as I walk up the stairs. I open the door to my room, and turn my phone on. I hover my finger over Sam's contact, tapping onto our chat.
Rereading the same text over and over again, I begin to get a headache. I put my phone on my nightstand and rub my face, before exhaling deeply.
I hear a knock on the door, and too lazy to get up, I mumble a 'come in'. I avert my eyes to the unexpected guest at the door. Noah is standing there, his bulky biceps flexed as he crosses them over his chest. He leans on the doorframe, giving me an apologetic smile.
I sit up, flustered at the thought of him seeing me laying down on my bed, hair already tangled and eyes drowsy.
"Hey," he starts, as he slowly approaches me, "I came here to apologise. What I said earlier... I didn't know it was going to be bothering you.. It was wrong of me to say such a thing."
Noah sits beside me, eyes locked onto me. I feel his stare as my eyes travel anywhere in the room but him.
"It was a bad start for the both of us, and since we're going to be living together for a while, I suggest we start again, as friends." His lips turn into a small smile, hoping for me to do the same.
"I forgive you. And yes, we can start again, I guess." I shrug, smiling back.
"Great. To make it up for you... Have you been around this town before?" he asks.
I shake my head, and his smile turns into a smirk.
"Do you want to go out now? There's a club not too far from here.."
"Yeah, sure, why not. College doesn't' start until next week or something."
"Ok, cool. I'll meet you downstairs at 8:30pm?" Noah stands up, wiping off the imaginary dust off of his fingers. I nod, and watch him leave, closing the door behind him.
Tonight may get Sam off my mind for a little while.
