"hey, frank."
"hey, amelia! give me a second." i stand there waiting as he whips something up in his machines, listening to the quiet din of the coffee shop customers chatting.
at lunch today, i told boyce and cam that i wasn't really in the mood to hang out today and i felt horrible when i saw their faces. i felt like my parents.
"here. it's a salted caramel iced coffee," he says, giving me my reusable plastic cup.
"thanks."
"hope you cheer up."
"hope i do, too."
i sit down alone today at a booth somewhere in the corner and take a sip of the drink.
the salt reminds me of the ocean air i never got to taste, but i push that aside and focus on the sweetness of the caramel instead.
amelia:
thanks for the drink.

"jack":
wanna talk about it?

amelia:
no. i hope you understand. talking about it isn't going to fix it.
