was this real life? i pinch my hand lightly. yep, it's real.

amelia:

i'd love that! see you soon.

by 7:30, boyce is outside my door wearing a dress shirt and a gorgeous grin.

"hey! you look so hot."

"thanks," i respond with a smile, taking his hand and hopping in his car.

boyce's car, like him, is flashy, expensive and smells like new; it's everything i wanted, yet something didn't feel right.

he speeds the 20 minute car ride to dawson's in under 10 minutes and turns to me with a smile. "you like my new ride?"

i nod, feeling a mixture of flustered and awkward.

finally, after a good ten minutes, cam arrives and gives me a huge hug. "you look gorgeous, pretty lady! hopefully, your 'jack' can see you tonight."

hand in hand, she walks me into the party. "oh my god, did you see who i came here with?"

"yeah! boyce! oh my god, it's totally him. he told me the other day that he thought you were really pretty but didn't want to ruin the friendship. it's probably why he's doing this!"

i was starting to cut the list down. boyce didn't really seem to fit the personality anymore...i chose to not to say anything to cam because it seemed she was really rooting for us.

i just wasn't really interested in boyce anymore. i

f it did turn out to be him, i don't know how i'd feel about him being so different in real life than on texts. boyce in real life was kind of blunt, insensitive and oblivious--which aren't necessarily bad things but things i didn't notice until i took a step back from my crush.

"jack" was a lot more cautious with his words: sweeter and more observant. it didn't make sense.

"i think i'm going to look around a bit," i tell her, making my way into the kitchen. as i pour myself a drink, harper approaches me.

"hey, amelia!" he says with an easy-going smile. i've always liked harper as person. he was friendly in a little kid kind of way, and was super easy to talk to. i hear he's quite the player though, which means if he's really "jack", then i fell for a fuckboy.

maybe he's different with me, i tell myself.

"hey! how's your night going?"

"pretty good! pretty good! look, just wanted to say hi. my friends are over there and they're waiting for me to play beer pong, so i'll catch up with you later. okay?" he points to a group of extremely attractive soccer players. they, including tucker and boyce (who isn't even part of the soccer team?), stare at us dumbfoundedly--like they've never seen harper talk to a girl before.
