"wow! that's so exciting!" cam squeals as i show her the halifax tickets on my phone. my parents and i had gone ahead and bought tickets for our family. i'd be finishing all of the maritimes while my parents would go home right after halifax. "shame tucker isn't coming though."
i shrug. "i get it. i hope he's not too upset i suggested the idea."
"hey, what can i get for you guys?" frank says, a drink already in hand with my name on it.
it's the salted caramel iced coffee and has a note attached to it. i snatch it away before frank can even make a comment.
i am bouncing on my feet while cam is taking her order--so much so that she simply shoves me into my seat and continues waiting alone.
frantically, i open the note.
"it may not be a birthday. but whatever, we had a goal and i want to finish it with you. we're not 18 yet. we still have a chance. i'll meet you guys in halifax.
-t"
attached to the note is a screenshot of bus tickets to halifax. a 17 hour ride.
my childhood dream was finally coming true.
