I casually walked over to the reception desk and pulled out some papers.
"Is this the place where I can apply to buy an apartment?" The clerk nodded and motioned to the stack of papers sitting at his right. I picked one up and looked it over.
"You can fill that out and leave it with me while you look at apartments upstairs. Then, when you decide which one you want to get, just come talk to me and we'll put the apartment number on your application." The clerk explained. I gave a slight nod and walked away from the desk.
I sat down in a white velvet chair and pulled out a pen. After filling out the paper I handed it back to the clerk and headed over to the elevator. Well, I want a nice view, so I'll choose a higher floor. I pressed the button labeled 18 and watched the doors slide shut.
The elevator jolted upward and settled into a steady movement.
I looked around and the lights flickered. Hmmm. They should get that fixed. After a few minutes the elevator slowed to a stop and the doors came open.
I stepped out and admired the clean white marble floors that stretched down the entire hallway and the dark mahogany doors. There were about 15 apartments on this floor from what I could tell.
I strolled down the hall, thinking carefully about which one I wanted to live in.
I stopped when I reached 137B. It was vacant and there was a key in the slot next to the door. I grabbed it and put it in the lock. The door opened, so I pocketed the key, walked in and closed the heavy door behind me.
This apartment was a lot bigger than the ones I had looked at online. I pulled up the website on my phone and typed 137B in the search bar.
When it came up I clicked on it to see the price and what it included.
I saw that the price was substantially greater than that of the other apartments in the building because it was the only one that included access to the rooftop facilities.
This one. I want this one.
