Baby Steps

The Babymoon

Vanessa's POV:

34 weeks 5 days...

The nights were getting more and more restless for me. It's hard to sleep when you have a cantaloupe in your pajamas.

I felt a light pair of lips flash across my cheek, and a soft "baby" pulling me out of my light sleep. I groaned in response. Nope, still not a morning person.

"Baby, wake up."

Brooke Lynn brushed my hair out of my face and rubbed my back.

"Come on, get up and get dressed. We have plans."

"No, we don't." I said, really trying to remember if we did have plans.

"We do, they're a surprise. So, get up."

She lays a small swat on my behind, causing me to squeal a little. I attempt to pull myself out of bed, after a little struggling, I succeed.

I get dressed and pull my long curls into a messy bun. I head out to the living room and see that there are two suitcases near the door.

"Uhm, babe?" I ask, "what's with the suitcases?"

"It's a surprise."
"Brooke, we can't go anywhere. I'm way too pregnant. Traveling isn't a good idea."
"It's fine when we are just going across down." Brooke shrugs, "ever heard of a babymoon?" I shake my head, "so normally it's done in the second trimester, but I didn't know it was a thing. I booked us a room at the nicest hotel across town, and it'll be just me and you."

Brooke kisses my forehead.

"Okay, let's do it." I smile and reach for one of the suitcases.

"Nope, don't think so." Brooke steps in front of me, "I've got them, just go get in the car babe."

We loaded the car, and then we were on our way.

"Ho-ly shit." I said, my jaw on the floor as I looked around our suite, and Brooke just stands there and beams at me, "babe, you really didn't have to do this."

"I know, but I wanted to." Brooke takes a deep breath, "Vanessa, I'm so in love with you. I just wanted to make sure that you don't forget it!"

"Well, shit, Mary." I smiled weakly, "I don't know how you can love me like this." I gestured to my fat self.

"Baby," she said softly, "I'm so amazed by you. I'm amazed by your body, I'm amazed by your strength, I'm amazed by your bravery. What you are doing for us, it's a big thing. You are creating our family. I'm helping the best I can, but there's only so much I can do while you're still growing her."

"I'm beginning to think you actually think that she is a fruit, and I'm concerned." I said, hiding my smile, Brooke rolls her eyes.

"You know what I mean, Vanessa."

"I know." I smiled and kissed her cheek.

Suddenly, there's a twisting sensation in my stomach. "Ugh. She's doing somersaults. At least it feels that way."

Brooke's hands find their way to my belly, and the baby instantly calms with her touch. My heart feels soft.

"She knows your touch." I whisper, "she knows her mommy's touch."

We've had many special moments over the last few weeks, but this one was one of my favorites.

We get our heads straight and unpack some of our things.

Once settled, Brooke Lynn's lips were on mine. She was kissing me with such intensity.

"Get naked." She murmured against my lips.

I paused. I've always considered myself sexy, until these last couple months. I've always had a great body, and I've always been proud of it. But now, even though my body was doing something amazing, I'm self-conscious. I'm growing a freaking human for fuck's sake. So why does the thought of getting naked with my wife make me feel so awkward?

"Babe." I hesitate, "I can't." I frown.

Brookes lips meet the corners of my mouth. "It's okay." She smiles, "come on."
She takes my hand and walks me over to the bed where we cuddle in the moment. In that moment, I become overwhelmed with how much I love this woman, and tears fall down my cheeks. Wow my emotions are insane today.

"Babe?" Brooke says, "why are you crying?"
"I don't know." I say, through tears, but still manage to laugh. Brooke kisses my tears away.

"I love you. Lets just relax." I nod. Brooke's hand rests on my belly and our little girl lays a soft kick where her hand is.

This is how our next couple days go, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
