The Visit
(Picture above not mine. It's a horror movie, check it out if you like that kind of stuff.)Flap, flap, twist, flap, flap, dive, flap.
It's around noon and my energy is going wild. That and the need to fly has me flying laps around the room. Fesco left the house this morning to go somewhere, probably his job. Not even an hour after he left I started to feel hyper. I can't even describe it. It's like I'm bursting at the seams with energy that doesn't seem to go away despite my best efforts. At the same time I want to relax and maybe nap to pass the time until Fesco gets back. I'm eager for him to get back, scared that he won't, confused on why I feel so, and on top of that I'm just really energetic with no reason, further driving my confusion and pulling out my curiosity as to why. This hasn't happened before and it's scaring me. Just contribute that to the mess of emotions in my head.
Hour after hour, I finally start feeling alright again.
An hour more passes and I'm passed out snuggled in my enclosure whilst curled up in the warm blankets close to the red heat source.
By the time Fesco walks through the door it's almost dinner time and I've just started to wake from my long, much needed nap. All I can say is thank goodness that's over.
"Hey Peppa," Fesco comes over and coos at me. I shut my eyes once again when I feel him pick me up and walk around with my sleepy form. Over the past days I've gotten used to the routine of being carried. It no longer bothers me as much when Fesco carry's me around. I've come to love the body heat he emits. Instead of it being sharp like the red heat, it's more soft and soothing.
"What's got you so tired?" His free hand comes down and softly scratches behind my ears which are pressed tiredly against my head. Just like that, I fall back into peaceful slumber.
"Is Peppa alright?"
"Yes, although I am wondering why she is so tired. My best guess is that she was playing around while I was at work earlier."
Whoever it is hums in response.
Cracking my eyelids open, I squint at the bright light. Once I'm able to see, the first thing I notice is that I'm in Fescos lap, the rhythmic stroking of his hand on my back nearly making me shut my eyes again. Before I fall back asleep I move away from his hand and stretch, standing up in order to stretch my wings more comfortably.
When I'm finished I look around. I remain standing in Fescos lap, while he's on the couch and seems to be facing someone- Snapping my gaze towards the opposite couch, my eyes land and narrow on Sahala, who sits calmly watching me, head slightly turned away with her hands in her lap. It's now that I realize when Fesco looks at me it doesn't bother me to the point I don't even notice that he can look straight at me.
Pushing that topic away for later, I examine Sahala top to bottom. She seems to be wearing the same clothing she had on that day of the examination, which makes me nervous in itself. I do not want to have her touch me. Hopefully Fesco already knows that too, or at least assumes.
The petting of my fur continues when I back away and closer to Fesco, although my senses are on alert now and my drowsiness is gone in a flash.
"How are you coping with the news?" She starts. "Regarding the elders train of thought that is."
He lets out a frustrated sigh when he hears Sahala ask about the elders. That's exactly what he wants to avoid thinking about and why he invited Sahala over. She has always been skilled in taking his mind off his stresses.
"I'll live. The opportunity just caught me by surprise."
"As it would anyone. Now on to less pressing matters, I figured we all could use a stroll through one of the smaller parks."
Despite my disliking for Sahala, the mention of going outside again perks up my mood. Noticeably enough that my reaction is enough to convince Fesco and draw out a nod of agreement from him.
Half an hour later Fesco has somehow managed to dress me in the newly designed harness from the other day even with my best attempts at evading it, hoping he'd give up. Yet again Fesco proves to me his astounding level of patience, as well as his strength which easily overpowers mine. I already knew that he was stronger than me, but it seems more real now that it's been broadcasted in front of me.
"Isn't fond of her new accessory I see." A chuckle can be heard from behind me and Sahala walks into my line of sight, not making direct eye contact of course.
"Having just introduced it to her a couple nights ago I'd be surprised if she was," Fesco looks down at my unamused upturned face with a small smile. Snorting at his expression, the leash is connected to the loop hole near the back of my neck on the harness and we walk out the front door.
The long pathways allow large machines to pass by with enough room, and I notice smaller pathways on either side in which other kymari walk along. Different noises of all kinds clamour for space in my ears. The whirring sounds the bulky machines produce as they speed by, kymari conversing and going about their daily lives, distant trees rattling in the wind. Pressing my ears back against my head and snout into the crook of Fescos arm, some of the scary and nerve wracking noises are either muffled by his clothing, or drowned out to his soothing heart beat. It's calm rhythmic pounding grounding my swirling mind through the ruckus of unfamiliar sounds.
The walk takes far too long for my liking, but we're soon entering the small expanse of trees. It's not that small as I am barely able to see the other side through the trees, but compared to the forests I've been through it's definitely able to be considered small.
My stomach lurches once again as Fesco sets me down delicately on the ground. The forest floor is covered halfway in tall green grass with patches of rock, dirt, and wood every here and there. Dropping my head to sniff the numerous scents left by animals, I pick up a few recent ones such as weasels, raccoons, and squirrels.
With a short joyful dance, I ignore Fesco and Sahala who trail behind me as I track this squirrel. From its defined scent it must've passed through on the way here.
My IPad on which I write this is glitching and won't allow me to type a question mark now. (Sorry for the inconvenience)
