I had this idea after seeing a movie called Scary Story To Tell In The Dark so I hope it isn't that bad

Pearl's POV

I grabbed the old book as me and Eight were running out of this old abandoned house. "WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER CAME HERE" Eight screamed running right behind me.

I thought we weren't going to make it out alive but right as we both made it out the door I slammed it shut. "We are never coming back here." I panted as I tried to catch my breath.

"Now I know something that spooks ya-wait what is that?" Eight asked pointing to the ragged old book in my hands. I smiled looking up at her, hope she likes scary stuff.

"This is Sarah's book, she used to live in this house. The thing is, no one knows what she looks like, reason why is cause her parents never let her leave her room. She used to tell stories from this book to other cephalopods that would come by this house through the wall. Myth has it, the kiddos that would come were never seen again." I smirked at Eight putting one of my hands on my hip, the other holding the book under my arm.

"Did you ever go to hear her stories?" Eight questioned as she pulled my arm to start walking back home.

"I'm not that old!!!" I lashed out without hesitation. "Okay, I'll start walking, and I mean, I'm only 21. Sarah died over a hundred years ago." I said a little embarrassed that I lashed out at Eight.

"You're still old-"

"You're like..." I thought for a minute, "..5 years younger then me. Anyway, it was also told that the stories Sarah would write in this book came true aaaand she only wrote scary stories." I giggled at the end, for once I had a smile that couldn't be wiped off my face.

"It sounds like you really like this stuff, I don't get. Is Tall Mom into this kind of stuff too?" Eight started to do parkour off the objects in the forest.

"I think she too much of a scaredy fish to like this. Heh that's why I can't wait to see her face when I show her this book. But she's also really cute when she's scared." I said that last part in a mummer.

"Didn't you watch a horror movie with her recently?" Eight turned her head toward me and moved one of her tentacles out of her face.

"Mayyyybe. She didn't let me leave her side for 2 weeks. Whats your limit on scary shit?"

The two girls continued talking on their walk home from the forest. Little did they know they opened something that wasn't meant to ever be touched again.

I opened the door to the apartment and let Eight go in first, after I locked the door and kicked off my boots I saw Marina taking a nap on the couch. I'm small right? I decided to snuggle next to her on the couch-

"You two are so cute! Lemme take a pict-"

"Shhhh! She's sleeping!" I shushed Eight but I heard Marina moving a bit, after that I sat up and started rubbing Marina's back.

"Good*yawns*morning." Marina mumbled turning around to avoid being more awake from her slumber.

"First off, it's almost evening. Also now you wont be able to sleep tonight." I tried to turn Marina to face towards me and Eight but she wouldn't budge.

"Lemmmme sleeeeeeep." Marina mumbled curling more into a ball, she closed her eyes again and as far as I could tell she was drifting off.

"You need to wake up, or you wont be able to sleep tonight. Also I wanna show you something!" I said shaking Marina.

"Fineee, lemme just sit up." Once Marina sat up she rubbed her eyes and looked toward me and Eight.

"Tall Mom, what do you think of scary shit?" Eight asked grabbing the book that I put on the couch.

"Don't curse and not a big fan." The tall octoling crossed her arms and looked toward me. "Pearl, you know I'm not good with those things. Please say this isn't going to scare me."

"Can't promise you anything! Look what me and Eight found." I looked towards Eight who handed Marina the ragged book.

"A book?" Marina took a glance at the book and looked really confused.

"Not just any book! This book belongs to Sarah-"

"You've told me this story before. It's scary and I don't want to deal with it."She interrupted me and handed the book back to Eight.

"Come on Tall mom, ya gonna have nightmares?" Eight teased Marina which caused me to giggle a bit.

"N-no!" She defended herself, "It's just that..uh." The octoling started to blush in embarrassment because she couldn't think of an excuse.

"Can you please just look at the book with us?" I begged putting on one of those puppy faces.

"Fine! Only for you Pearlie." She gave me a kiss on my head and pulled me closer to her. Eight pulled up a seat across from us.

"Open it! Open it!" Eight chanted and I joined in.

"Shhhh I'm doing it! Cod..you guys act like children." Marina stopped the chant and moved one of her dark skinned hands to brush the cover of the book. She gently lifted it open and was met with the owner of the books name: Sarah.

I got kinda irritated that she wasn't turning the page so I did it for her. The next page had a title called: The Redroom.

"This isn't ink.." Marina said as she wipped her thumb over the title, which smeared off, like blood. "Fuck that's blood you take it Pearl." Marina quickly passed the open book onto my lap.

"Who's blood is that..?" Eight questioned with more of a scared tone.

"I dunno, not mine." I replied flipping pages. I got to an empty page with- wait, what the fuck. The title was writing it's self. How the fuck.

"Oh my Cod, the book is writing it's self."Marina repeated my thoughts and quickly shut the book closed.
