11. War Cries of Secrets & Contrariness

Third pov;

Lindo was discussing the attack that happened to Mina and the rest towards the Council that governs over the exorcism school and fellow exorcist in-training. While Mina was in charge of Ritsuka until she wakes up within one of the dorms as Lindo returned.

"Azuna!" She spoke with a cry awoken to see her brother and Mina with a small smile by her side of the bed. But only one person was missing.

"Lindo. Mina. Where are we?" She asked in wonder.

"The Exorcist Society. Until the grimoire's power fades away at the full moon after your birthday, you'll be safe here." Lindo replied.

"Azuna! What about Azuna?" She asked with worry.

"Greatly injured, but recuperating at my house when father appeared after you fainted. It rests all on her now if she wants to make it or not." Mina said with a bit a hope in her heart for her friend.

"But still, it's all my fault..... Why? If this's what's come to it, -I'd rather be better off dead!" Ritsuka asked with grief and anger.

Mina; "Ritsuka!?"

Lindo; "That's crazy talk! Azuna wouldn't have wanted that." As he said this Lindo opened Ritsuka's hand and gave her Azuna's cross necklace as he closed it shut.

Ritsuka; "This is..."

Mina; "Azuna was always afraid you'd find out she was an exorcist. And afraid that she'd lose you as a friend, like how I was when you found out. But you accepted us, she was so happy to protect you openly like that. Don't let her feelings be in vain." She asked with a smile as tears poured down both of their cheeks and hugged one another. After a few hours had passed the girls fell asleep together after they finally stopped crying with red marks around their eyes. With the girls, asleep Lindo put the ring that he'd gotten from the council and put it on Ritsuka's finger for her protection.

Ritsuka; "Lindo... big brother... please don't go away, okay? You or Mina?" She asked praying to not lose anyone else that she cares about.

Lindo; "We won't, promise. We'll always be at your side." He said with a heartfelt smile and patted her head like a small child.

Mina's pov;

I remember sleeping on the same bed with Ritsuka after our crying session once I woke up the exorcist council was standing over me as I could barely move and was strapped onto a chair. For they weren't ordinary bindings as they were absorbing my energy. That's when I heard her voice in utter surprise.

"Mina!?"

"Ritsuka! Hey, what's going on here?" Is what I demanded to the exorcist council of what's going on. For I saw Ritsuka about to be chained as other members came out from the shadows to hold her steady. Witnessing this I used as much as my powers that could come forth in breaking the barrier around the chains. Finally reading free is when Lindo barged right through the entrance as Ritsuka and I ran towards his side.

Lindo; "Mina! Ritsuka! What's the meaning of this?" He demanded.

"Lindo. To protect this world, our best course of action is to eliminate the grimoire itself." One of the high commanders explained.
