The Cold War in Tokyo ((Tokyo ghoul x reader) reader x Eto))

Chapter 1

"Ghouls are basically like humans. There is no way to tell them apart, other than scanning their RC cell levels or taking a closer look at their eating habits. The eating habits of the ghouls are other than that of a human because they can't eat normal food, only human flesh, or other ghouls. To have an advantage over their human prey, they have enhanced regenerative abilities and an additional organ, known as the kakuhou, which can be used to form a kagune. A kagune can only be activated, when the kakugan is also activated. The kakugan does nothing more than change the appearance of the eye, making it black with a red iris, it can also appear when the ghoul didn't eat anything. Anyway, let's again focus on the kagune. The kagune is the weapon of the ghoul, it pierces their skin and often functions as an additional limb, but it could also become a sword, an axe, or another close combat weapon, some can even shoot projectiles. However let's not go into too much detail concerning the kagune, you won't need this knowledge anyway unless you're planning on becoming a CCG investigator, because if you come in contact with a ghoul, your chances of survival are already 0%. So always remember, even if you just think that someone might be a ghoul, immediately head to the principal's office."

"But miss, why are you telling this to us now? We never had a class about ghouls and as you said, this knowledge is useless to us anyway." A boy said, without raising his hand first.

"Well.." the teacher answered, "As you know, a student from our university went missing two weeks ago and after our principal talked to the CCG, not only did they come to the conclusion that a ghoul must have killed her, they also speculate that this ghoul could be living right here, he might even be in this very class. That's why I'm telling you all of this now."

The whole classroom erupted in discussions and everyone was shocked, except, of course, you. You ate that girl and you know it damn well.

"So (Y/N), just say it, you're the ghoul, right? I mean we have never eaten anything together, you just want to drink stuff." The boy next to you said jokingly.

The boy was Hideyoshi, or simply Hide, your only real friend and also your roommate. Of course, there was still Ken, but you didn't like him all that much, at least compared to Hide.

"Well that might be true, but you have to admit that drinking coffee is far more relaxing than eating. I mean how would you even be able to talk while eating? It's stupid and that's a fact." you answered with a small smile on your face.

"Yeah, yeah ... Anyway, that might not fit the conversation, but it's important. Have you already heard about Ken's accident ?" Hide asked.

"Ken's accident? No, what happened ?" you asked, visibly surprised, but also interested.

"Well, unfortunately, I don't know much about it, I hoped that you could tell me something new, but I mean you don't talk much to Ken anyway ... So basically what happened was, that Ken was hit by some steel beams on a construction site and he's in the hospital now. The doctor said that he's in perfect condition, but I don't know ... Something doesn't seem right about this." he said very seriously, at least compared to how he usually behaves.

You didn't talk a lot more about it, just wished best of luck for Ken and continued with your regular schedule, which was to go the coffee shop called anteiku, with Hie of course. You went there nearly every day after school and you already knew the staff pretty well, you also knew that they were all ghouls, but for some reason, they never assumed that you were a ghoul as well, it probably has something to do with your smell.

When you arrived, you were greeted by Touka, a waitress. She already knew what you two were getting and proceeded to prepare it. Black coffee for you and hot chocolate for Hide. 

It was quite obvious that Hide had a crush on Touka, which didn't bother you, what bothered you, however, was the fact that everyone around you seemed to have someone, even if it was just a crush, they had love. You only had Hide, but he was only your friend and apart from him there was no one. You moved out of your home to study in Tokyo, which meant that your family was far, far away too, which left you completely on your own.
