Chapter 9

It was a dark and foggy night and you were standing on the top of a skyscraper.

"So I am 'the Wolf' now, huh? I wonder what they are going to call me, once they find out that I'm one-eyed as well," you asked yourself as you put your mask on.

Today you were going to leave traces, traces that would lead to the Wolf, but actually, lead to nothing. Making traces that lead to nothing is technically impossible because you always leave something, but you could try to at least make it seem too random to follow them.

At first, you didn't have a lot of plans on how the Wolf was going to evolve and what kind of symbol he will be, but that didn't matter for now,  because now it was time to hunt.

You were walking around the 4th ward so that Amon and Akira would believe that that was your territory. It didn't take long and you encountered a group of Aogiri members, seemingly revolting against their leader. The leader didn't seem intimidated at all, he just stood there like a mannequin. You decided to intervene.

"I'm sorry, there seems to be some kind of problem here. Is there any way I can help?" you asked provokingly.

"Yeah. Kill this dude right here." One of the members shouted.

"What did he do?" you continued asking.

"He is a loyalist and has to die!" another member screamed.

They all started shouting on how terrible of a person he is and that he should die, but he didn't seem to care. It didn't take long until you realized, that loyalist meant, that he was still loyal to Eto, their previous leader, while the followers of the new leader probably were called revolutionaries. All still very parallel to the French Revolution.

At some point, they were about to attack him, but you decided that loyalists are your friends, so you stepped between their leader and them and activated your kagune.

"I guess I'm a loyalist as well... or at least something similar, so yeah... I'm sorry but I can't let you kill him," you told them.

They then began charging towards you instead of their leader, but it wasn't a fair fight. You slashed through all of them, ripping them in half with just a single attack.

You looked to their leader, expecting him to be at least surprised, but he wasn't. He still stood there like a mannequin, showing no emotion at all, but you did hear him say something.

"I know who you are. When Eto shall rise to power again, I will support you. Good luck."

He then took a look at his watch and walked away, as if nothing has happened.

That, of course, left you alone with all of the bodies, but that clearly wasn't a problem, as you were already starting to eat them. Ghoul flesh wasn't exactly delicious, but you gained a lot of Rc cells by eating them and that was something very useful.

You also noticed that one of the ghouls was still alive, even if just barely since his legs were missing, but you decided to spare him, or rather leave him as a messenger. Someone will have to tell the CCG what happened here and it would be him.

"When anyone asks what has happened, tell them that the wolf doesn't like it when people are fighting in his territory."

This pretty much accomplished the goal of your first strike. You left a message, confirming the CCG that the wolf was still out there and that the 4th ward was his territory. Surely that would confirm a lot more than just that, but why make the effort of thinking about it, if Amon is going to tell you anyway?

The next morning you woke up tp Eto telling you to get ready. The CCG wanted to fill out some documents about you, to make you an official investigator, who would also receive salaries and all that good stuff and so you quickly showered, got yourself dressed and took the underground, together with Eto, to get to the CCG headquarters.
