We get out of the spa. Once we're all dry and change into our regular clothes, we go downstairs eat dinner. I sit beside Hannah and Shawn is in front of her. Like this I don't think there's a way we can become suspicious.
« Maddison it's great to see you. » says Karen gently. I sure know where Shawn gets his good manners from. His mom is simply the sweetest.
« It's great to see you too Karen. » I say and smile back at her.
The dinner goes by quickly. Me and Shawn sometimes made eye contact but I don't think anyone noticed. Hannah and I help clean the table and dishes and then go back to her room.
I know I need to tell her NOW. I'm getting stressful. We lay on her bed to talk.
« I'm so full. That was such a good spaghetti. » She says.
« Yeah. » I say and giggle.
« Hannah I need to talk to you about something. » I say and sit.
« Sure. » she sits down too. I take a deep breath and think where to begin.
« Okay. So, I'll start with the begging. But before I say anything I want you to know that I love you and I would never do anything to hurt you. »
« Okay now you're scaring me. »
« It involves Shawn. » I say and stop to look at her reaction.
« Shawn? Like my step brother Shawn? » for now she only seems confused.
« Yes. »
« What about him? »
« The first day back to school I had a science class. And Shawn was in it. »
« Wait you and Shawn have science together? »
« Yes. but before you interrupted me I need to get this out. »
« Okay. »
« It's more than that. We are sit next to each other. So during our first class we talked. And the end of the period I guess we could say we became friends. I don't know why I didn't tell you then. I guess I knew how much you hated him and I didn't want you to think that I was betraying you by being friend with him. »
« You two are friends? » she says with a judgy face.
« I'm not finished yet... » I say quietly.
« There's more? »
« Yeah. So after that, we kept talking. And the more I was getting involve in this friendship, the more I didn't want to tell you because I was so scared of what you would say. And one day me and Shawn did a project science together. That day we... we kissed. »
« WHAT?! »
« And the day after he asked me to be his girlfriend. So now we're a couple since that and I've never told you because I was so scared of your reaction. the more I waited the worst it was. I know it was not the good thing to do. I'm so sorry. I put a boy between our friendship. »
I got this last part out supper fast. I wait for her reaction.
Hannah stays quiet. She seems to think but I don't know if she's mad or not.
« Say something. »
« I don't know what to say. How could you have think that I would be mad at you for being friends with him? Why? I mean I don't understand. »
« I don't know I was stupid. »
« But you kept lying to me. » she says and looks at me in the eyes.
