Arkadia - June 4th
"What the feck is going on?!" Pádraig bellowed. "What kind of place is this? Let me out of here!" he rattled his chain-like bonds and howled with bestial intensity. He didn't know how long he had been here, but it seemed like it had been a long while since he had awoken in this place... wherever he was. He couldn't see out, but he thought he could hear voices in the next room.
"Rizniak, what is this shite? Me only son is trapped in a cell and chained to a wall!" Mr. Finnegan looked at the restraints containing his son; a shiny, metallic substance of darkest ebony held Pádraig in place. Although they appeared to almost slide out of place at every pull, they held firmly. "Those are chains, aren't they?"
"I understand your concern, Séamus, but this containment really is necessary for his safety as well as some of the others until the worst of it has passed. There's a lot you'll need to understand, but Pádraig will never be the same again."
Mr. Finnegan quieted as his angry eyes began to water, and he grasped his wife's hand that had slowly crept up towards his.
"Tell us then, Jebediah... What do ye mean? Tell it right and tell it proper." Mrs. Finnegan said softly, but strongly. She wiped her husband's tears away with her spare hand. "What can be done?"
"Mum? Da? Are ye out there? Help me!" Pádraig tried calling out, but no immediate response came of it.
"I'm not sure you'll remember any of this, but I will try." Dr. Rizniak motioned to one of the nearby workers for aid. Shortly afterwards, Pádraig watched as one of the walls seemed to slide open. The light was almost blinding against the dark of the room, but just as his eyes were beginning to adjust ambient light filled the room and his parents were brought in by an older man. 'So, he did hear them... What was The Riz doing here? That's interesting.'
"Alright, gobshites, you'll be needin' to let me out soon or there's gonna be problems." Pádraig said menacingly.
"No need for any of that,Pádraig... Your manacles neutralize your abilities." Dr. Rizniak said merrily. "Normally, we'd just keep you here until you learned to control yourself, but you've been through an awful lot lately and you seem to be going through the change at an accelerated rate. When your parents brought you in we knew something had to be done. Rather than have to repeat this many times over I've decided to tell you all at once."
"...Yer not making a lot of sense here, Riz. Get me out of these damn chains!" Pádraig tried frantically punching in an attempt to rip himself out of the chains. "Let me out!" he roared.
He could see the look of terror on his parents face. They looked terrified both of and for Pádraig, but he realized that something inside of him enjoyed it. He deeply wished to increase that feeling... especially if he could cause the doctor pain. 'Yes; Lovely, lovely pain.' The thought of it almost made him drool. The feeling alone was intoxicating.
His writhing ceased as soon as it began and he began to feel as terrified as his parents looked. 'What was this? This wasn't him. He would never hurt his family.' "Dr. Rizniak..." he said hoarsely almost whispering his words. The difference in his demeanor was palpable like someone watching a light snowfall after an intense thunderstorm. "What's wrong with me?"
