The Open Road - May 19th

"I can't believe we're finally going to see Perwadjet at The Shell!" Sandy screamed as she got into the car.

The Conical Arena, sometimes referred to 'The Shell', was a large venue that was mostly outdoors and was a favorite for fair weather concerts particularly in the Summer months where the night air was neither too cool nor too warm.

"Can we listen to them on the ride over?" Sandy continued excitedly. "Really pump up the excitement?"

"We still have to pick up Pádraig... Do we really want to be those people?" Jackson asked. "I mean could we live with ourselves?"

"Don't forget Sam!" she said cheerily. "Well, I suppose we don't have to be those people... but those people are V.I.P.s!!!" Her screams of joy became panic as Jackson slammed on the breaks bringing the car to a sudden stop. Sounds which now reverberated from the many other cars behind him that swerved, honked, and flashed their brights at him.

Some even screamed out the window, but Jackson didn't hear them. "What the hell, Jackson?!"  I already told you I was feeling off... Do you want me being sick all over your gramp's car?"

"You don't start screaming at the driver, Sandy. It makes me think--Back up... Did you say V.I.P.?" he asked in trepidation.

"Fine," she huffed. Fixing herself from the jolt of the car. "I guess I can't be mad at you for too long on your bday... As long as you get us there safely." calming down a bit she realized her error. "Maybe I should have waited, but I wanted to tell you before the others got here. They know already. Pull us over, would you?"

Still in shock, Jackson pulled the car over to the side of the road "Ok, so?" he said slowly.

Sandra reached into her purse and removed a white envelope which she handed him, "Happy bday, driving guy." she cooed kissing him on the cheek.

There in Sandra's flowing handwriting was his name, 'Mr. E. Jackson Collingswood'.

Still reeling, he tore the envelope open disregarding all the artwork on the front cover including a note to find several laminated passes. Slowly, as if removing the contents would end the dream, he pulled one out. There, again, was his name on a colorized picture of the band which read, 'Jackson Collingswood All Access. V.I.P.' underneath. He screamed like an excited little child.

"Oh, wow..." He started to verbalize excitedly once words became an option again. "You... I... just... um..." He sputtered out almost tearing. "I swear I could kiss you..." he blushed realizing what he had just said and continued anxiously. "... I mean, if that wouldn't be awkward and potentially confusing." He hugged her tightly and kissed her head instead.

"Yea, love you too..." She said returning the embrace. "but as nice as this is. We really should get the others so that we don't miss the concert. We can geek out when we meet them. Ok?"

He did a bit of a two-step, in place that he hoped she'd never remember even though he knew she would. "Ok..." he said trying to calm down. "But how are you going to meet them when you're jumping Sam?"
