Arkadia - June 4th
As Sandra left the hospital, all the parents were still frozen in their conversational loops. She allowed herself to kiss Jackson's cheek, but neither of them had the courage for a hug. Jackson knew they would be as frozen as their parents if they tried. Sandra went to sit by herself in the car and immediately started to breakdown as if by clockwork, the rest of the adults also returned to their cars and left; Including Jackson's parents. He watched as the music of her sorrow played them off down the road.
"Am to be I stuck here in Wonderland, then?" he wondered as he watched the cars left. "No more family... Bye-bye, Jackson."
"Only if you want to be..." A jolly voice resounded behind Jackson interrupting his morose self-reflection. He would've commented on the rudeness of it, but The Riz continued onward.
"It's part of the magick of the wards. When someone from Arkadia wishes to return to the outside world, the transport that delivered them will also draw any stragglers to leaves at once. It helps deter misplaced humans and Qu'elka alike."The kindly man cocked an eye at Jackson as though he knew something, but challenged his opponent to confirm it. " Mayhap my eyes are failing me, but I didn't see you say anything or runoff in an attempt to stop them as they left." Dr. Rizniak observed.
"Then how am I supposed to get home?!" Jackson whined; more out of sorrow than concern.
"Just decide you want to go there." Dr. Rizniak said returning to the doors of the building.
"Are you going to tell me there's a magick way home too?" Jackson asked flabbergasted.
"Even better!" the elderly man exclaimed excitedly waving his wands as if creating something special. "Technology! I'm told most young people have a phone these days; Wondrous devices. Just call them." he said shrugging. "Otherwise, you'll have a place here until you're ready for your trials at the school. Your parents will know you're away, but think it has to do with your *muggle* school; That part is magick, though."
"School? Trials?" Jackson barely managed to say.
"Petra didn't forget that too, did she?" The elderly man asked concernedly. "That's extremely important information."
"...oh! No, I remember." Jackson exclaimed. He racked his memory looking for the proper information. "Belle... Bellevue something. It's on the tip of my tongue, but it's like a haze every time I look for it."
"It's incredibly important you remember the name," Dr. Rizniak stated in a very serious tone that Jackson would have never before ascribed to the man. 'Goofy', yes; 'Eccentric', obviously; however, 'grave' was not a word one commonly associated with this individual.
"Bellevue Academy?" Jackson asked scratching his head. "Is that right? Not coming up with anything about trials though."
"Very good, just remember that. It's another piece of the puzzle. Next on the list, a mentor... I doubt she's found you one,"
"What about you, Doc?" Jackson asked still looking out into the distance.
"Me? No, I'm just a lookout. I have no more association with the school nor The Hunt than necessary." the man laughed his jolly laugh, "Much to their chagrin... No, you need an approved mentor to be your guide. Hopefully, she finds one for you soon. They'll better explain the trials to you." Dr. Rizniak looked out towards the wind and saw how the shadows swirled about the cave. "It's starting to get late, Jackson. Is there anything else that you need?"
