Dreamspace

The unease of what Jackson thought of as his dreamland slowly unfolded before his eyes.

Complete darkness slowly became browns and greys, which in-turn became an entire panoply of colors that erupted forth then shattered. A wave of light that actually surged forth like a wave and merged with any darkness all fading together into the shadowy landscape that was his dream life.

Jackson burst forward into the cave, "Petra! Where are you?" he called out into the echoing darkness of the cave.

"Brother!" called a slowly materializing form in green. "I've missed you, where have you been?"

"This wasn't right," Jackson thought. "she's never slowly appeared before... She was always either where he was or he was visited by something else. Even her voice was off, usually, she spoke with soft tones of blue-grey, but this green coming from her... Something was wrong."

"Ok, first things, first... What's going on? You don't usually shimmer into existence." he asked.

"I'm not sure... maybe as you get closer to our world, you see less of me." Petra merely shrugged. "I'm not always told everything. Sometimes things happen..."

"Why wouldn't you have told me about that? I'm confused that you wouldn't know the answer to this by now." Jackson said somewhat irritated. Everyone seemed to think he should know things that he had no reason to know. Why wouldn't she tell him what he needed to know?

"I don't know, Jackson... Is there anything else you'd like to know?"

'There's that green again, it's like it's choking her.' Jackson thought. "Yes, everything! Why are you acting like you don't know anything?" Jackson questioned. "Everyone keeps telling me that my sister should be informing me about all the things that I don't know about your world and then how ill-prepared I am. What gives?"

"You seem to like their answers more why don't you ask them?" Petra huffed.

"You're behaving strangely... and your voice and tone have changed. Is something wrong?" Jackson said becoming much more uncomfortable. This place used to be a safe haven for him and now even that was changing.

"Why? Did you like the, 'Oh, no! Whatever will I do? 'Minnie Mouse act better?" Petra said mimicking a sad, high-pitched voice of damsel in distress. "Seriously, grow up." she scoffed laughing bitterly.

"Who are you?" Jackson questioned slowly.

"Your worst nightmare..." she smirked. "One where your friends leave you, your family fades away, and you're not allowed to contact anyone you care for unless the rules permit it. Let's see how you like it..." her hands glowed with an emerald aura as she scowled menacingly. She couldn't meet his eyes, however.

"So, you mean what just happened, earlier today?" Jackson said letting the bitterness fill his words. He kicked a shadowy rock form and when the stone screamed and he felt like he broke his toe he decided not to do that going forward.
