"Morning," I say as I pulled the chair out and sat down.

"You know what I don't get? Why the hell is Caden always here?!" Adrian almost chokes on his breakfast while laughing which made me smile.

"I'm here because my alpha gives his betas the day's orders in the morning one by one sometimes one of them is to come by and check on you," Caden says and puts a grape in his mouth.

"Oh..." I say in understanding.

"Hey um...so I've been thinking. You said that some of the white moon pack was here, so did mom and dad escape here too?" I hesitantly questioned. "You're not telling me anything about them, Caden," the anger was raising inside of me. Anger flares my brother's eyes at the mention of our parents.

"She doesn't know?" Adrian asked Caden softly.

"Does not know what?" I repeated. "That mom and dad died in the fire five years ago," Caden quickly said. I guess I already knew that.

"Alright, um...I'm craving a long bath right now, I'll eat lunch with you guys,"
I excused myself and climbed up back the stairs.

"Av, wait!" I spun around and see Caden running towards me.

"Come," he said and pulled me into another room."There is something you should know, I don't like to talk about Dad that's why I hate the mention of him. Caden looked into my eyes and I could tell this was hard for him which only made me more curious. I waited for him to go on and he looks away from me as he starts to speak, "Dad was the one that started the fire at the packhouse."

"What?" I questioned out of disbelief.

"He didn't want the pack to continue Anna, so he lit the packhouse on fire. He made us escape so we would become rogue and I won't become Alpha. He only wanted himself to be the only alpha, I guess the planning of my coronation to take over was overwhelming him and he just..lit the place on fire knowing it would kill us all. Mom told me and promised she would find us after the fire. She got this pack to come over to ours and help get people rescued. There weren't many rescues but they're all in different packs now, I only became Beta because I have alpha blood." Caden allowed me to think to myself. "Are you sure you're not lying?" I asked for reassurance. Caden looked away from me.

"I'm sorry, Avyanna."

At the age of seven my dad taught me how to fight, he even lends me a few words that have helped me throughout many years. Dad loved his pack and his family, at least it's what he showed but nobody could deny that.

"Are you sure mom told you this?" He nodded and I bite my lip. This is so unbelievable. "I have to go to work but I'll come to check on you later," Caden left the room leaving me all by myself.
