My heart was pounding against my chest, threatening to come out. His scent got stronger in a matter of seconds to where I could predict he was going to come into the room in a matter of seconds.
When the door opened, his eyes were already on me. "I thought you'd be here," Adrain admitted while his eyes scanned my body. "I'm fine Adrian," I assure him.
"I know I don't deserve but please let me hug you," I could see the plea in his eyes. I smiled before walking into his arms. I wrap my arms around his shoulder as his hands tightened around my hips.and he continued to look at me, after realizing it was the truth, relief washed over his face.
"I was so worried," Adrian whispers and now I feel bad for running away.
Stupid mate bond.
After assuring him one last time I was safe, Adrian didn't move his hand as he pulled me to stand beside him.
"So, what is your least favorite way of dying?" Adrian asked, his ego level very high.
"Adrian, he's a friend," I was still debating whether to tell him or not. But I don't think I'll have a choice. "With his tongue down your throat," Adrian snapped while throwing daggers at Carlos. "That was the first time it ever happened and it was just a peck," I defended us. "Adrian, Carlos never hurt me, he was the one that helped me escape and helped me survive," I softly told him, "You should thank him because he is probably the reason I'm alive." I held his jaw and turned his head so he was looking down at me, "I'm not lying." I took this time to admire his gorgeous green eyes.
"Then who did this to her?" Adrian's voice was civilized but I could tell he was trying to contain his anger.
Oh god.
"Nobody!" I shout before anyone can say anything. "I'm beginning to think this person's name is nobody," Adrian scoffed. I would expect it was a joke but he said it out of rage. The door slowly opened and my face drained of all emotions. My mind had fear and panic attacking it.
Ian walked in.
His eyes first landed on Adrian then he followed his hand that was hooked on me. Our eyes met. I push back a little and my fingernails dug into Adrian's hand for a short second.
"Alpha Adrian, I got a word that you were here," a fake smile plastered his lips.
"How do you know this one?" he questioned."She's my mate if you aren't blind," Adrian spit. Ian almost laughed. "Who would have thought that the girl who mopped my floors and was at my fingertips would be the big bad Alpha's mate?"
I turn to Carlos to see pure anger and hatred in his eyes as he held soriah tightly in his arms. "Who would have thought that the Alpha, with a wife and teenage son, would be torturing an innocent Eighteen years old for five years," Adrian snapped back. I now realize that I'm no longer afraid. I feel safe in his arms and that eases me.
"Alpha Carlos please take your two lunas out of here, it's about to get messy."
"Adrian," I warned. "Please? You can be stubborn later," Adrian kissed my forehead before I was pulled out of the room. "You deserve the worst possible death, I should have killed you when I had the chance," I hear Carlos tell his father before leaving and shutting the door behind him.
I ran into the room again. "Don't," I choked out. I hated him with every ounce of my being. But having Adrian kill him...
"Adrian, don't," I repeated. "He has a wife, she would die."
"No, mom rejected him when you left, she no longer had a reason to be with him," Carlos announced as he stepped back into the room.
"What..."
"Avyanna, the only reason my mother was with him is that she knew if they weren't you would probably be dead because his anger and frustration were always poured onto you," Carlos' eyes softened.
This new information was a lot to process.Suddenly, I was pulled outside again and this time the door locked.

"Av can I speak to you for a moment?" Adrian announced his entrance.
We were now back home, I was just laying in bed staring at the ceiling when he came in and requested for us to talk. Ian was dead. It was unbelievable. He was finally dead. I got in a sitting position on the bed and patted the spot next to me where Adrian soon sat down.
"I need to know if you are willing to become a Luna. Even to give it a shot?" We both stayed silent while I thought about it. I wanted to become a Luna, Tris wanted to become a luna even more. "Yes, but there is something I want to do first," I explained and he nodded, silently asking me to continue. "I want to live in the pack house for a bit, I want to be familiar with a pack before I become the Luna. It would be so much easier so I'd know what to expect and such. I need to know...I need to know my pack."
"Only if it's for Two weeks. Nothing more."
"Adrian."
"Ayanna don't push me on this," he sighed and I can tell he's trying to control his anger, "You don't even know how hard this is for me."
"Three."
"No."
"then I won't let you visit me," I say, folding my arms in front of my chest. Adrian sighed, hopefully in defeat. He looks at me once more before rolling his eyes.
"Fine."
