After showering I dried my hair and put it up into a messy bun. For my makeup I mainly focused on my eyes, using liquid liner to create a winged effect, then applying mascara. I finished off with a red lipstick. My hands were shaking so much I had to reapply my eyeliner twice before I achieved my intended look.

I walked over to my wardrobe and began to pick out my outfit. I had a hard time choosing a dress but finally settled on a black lace cocktail dress with my black lace Louboutin heels.

I had just put on the dress when my phone beeped on the opposite side of the room. It was a text from Nick.

Thanks for the text, love. I'm leaving now, I'll see you soon. x - Niklaus.

I quickly put on my shoes and stuffed my phone into my bag, my stomach was doing backflips the entire time.

I couldn't believe how lucky I was to be taking Jade out on a date. I had never been this nervous in my 1000 years. What if I ruined everything? She still didn't know I was a hybrid, yet alone THE ORIGINAL HYBRID. I would have to tell her about my past eventually. Would she hate me? I pushed these thoughts aside as I sped down the stairs and into the living room where Elijah was sat.

"I hope you don't have bad intentions for the girl, Niklaus." My brother spoke without looking up from the book he was reading.

"I don't intend for any harm to come to her, brother." I pulled out my phone and sent Jade a text, telling her I was on my way.

I got into my car and drove towards Jade's house, wondering what the night would bring.

I pulled up outside her house and had just got out of my car to knock on her door when she appeared. My eyes nearly popped out of my head. She was wearing a black dress which showed off her amazing figure and her long, perfect legs. She looked beautiful. I flashed her a smile as she approached.

"You look ravishing tonight, love." I picked up her hand and kissed it, before opening the car door for her.

"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." A blush appeared on her cheeks, making her look adorable.

The car journey was filled with conversation. She was so easy to talk to, there was never a dull moment when she was around. I couldn't help but notice the way she bit her lip when she was concentrating, or the way her eyes would sparkle when she laughed. She was the closest thing to perfection I had ever seen.

We soon arrived at the restaurant, a little too fast for my liking. I quickly sped around to her side of the car (without my hybrid speed of course) and opened the door for her.

"Such a gentleman." She smirked before exiting the car. I offered her my arm which she took, before I led her into the restaurant.

We were soon sat at a table. I could hear her heart beating extremely fast. I had so much to ask her, I wanted to know everything about her.

"So, you never told me why you moved to America, sweetheart." At this comment her eyes widened and I immediately regretted being so upfront. I remembered how her eyes shone with sadness on the day of the ball when I asked her the same question. Just the way her eyes were shining now.

"My parents died from a car crash last year. Everything reminded me of them. I couldn't face it anymore so I left..." She bit her lip.

My heart broke for her. I could tell their death had affected her in ways I could never imagine. I didn't want her to have to go through that. I felt like a monster. She was devastated at the loss of her parents and I had killed my own mother. Though, she did try to kill me first.

"I'm so sorry, love. I didn't mean to upset you." I reached out and held her hand on the table.

"It's fine, it's good to finally talk to someone about it." She gave me a small smile as a waiter approached to take our orders.

After the awkward start, the night was brilliant. We spent the duration of the meal really getting to know each other. Of course I left out the part about me being a hybrid, I didn't want her to run for the hills.

As we finished the meal and headed towards my car, I found myself wanting to spend more time with her.

"Would you like to come back to mine for a drink, sweetheart?"

"Okay, sure." She smiled. I heard her heart rate rise again.

The date was going perfectly. Nick was amazing, I had never met anyone who had been so eager to listen to me. I felt like he understood me.

We were now heading back to his house. My heart was beating so hard I thought my chest would explode. I had never felt this way about a guy before, I just hoped he felt the same.

We pulled up in front of his house. It sheer size and beauty of the place never seized to amaze me. Again, he opened the door for me. It was like he was from another time, I loved that about him.

As we entered the house I could hear voices coming from another room. I presumed they belonged to Nick's siblings.

Nick led me to a room from which I heard the voices. I instantly recognised them from the ball the other night.

"Jade, meet my brother, Elijah and my sister, Rebekah." Elijah immediately walked up to me and kissed my hand, as Nick had done. This family were certainly different.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Jade." Elijah smiled. I felt Nick's body stiffen next to me.

"So, I take it your the girl that punched Elena Gilbert?" Rebekah said with amusement.

"Sure am." I chuckled.

"She's a keeper, Nick!" Rebekah laughed before walking out of the room. I blushed for the hundredth time this evening.

"How about I give you a tour of the house?" Nick asked. I gladly accepted as he began to walk me around the house. I had been dying to see the inside since I first saw the place.

We came to a staircase with a library above it. I loved books, especially the classics. I immediately ran up the steps and traced the covers of the books with my fingers. The books were old, most of them were classic books. Nick was still below me at the bottom of the staircase.

"This is all very Gatsby, don't you think?" I chuckled as I rejoined Nick at the bottom of the stairs. He laughed, showing his dimples which almost made me melt.

"You can be my Daisy any day, love."

We eventually ended up in the art room. It was filled with paintings and sketches along with various art supplies. I found myself staring at one of the painting on the wall. It was of a horse. I marvelled at the skill of the artist when my eyes came across the signature at the bottom.

"You painted this?" I was astonished.

"All my own work." He smirked as he looked at the floor. I could tell he didn't show a lot of people his artwork. My eyes gazed upon an easel which had been set up across the room.

"Care to prove it?" I smiled.

I lay on a couch as I watched him delicately apply paint to the canvas. He was an incredible artist, I would give anything to be able to paint like him. A fire was lit across the opposite side of the room, giving the place a warm glow and a cosy warmth. My eyes grew heavy and I found myself drifting off to sleep.
