Everything was unfamiliar. Trees and exotic plants covered the mossy overgrown ground. The forest was quiet and isolated with very little sunshine, as the layered leaves blocked most light coming from the sky. That was the view for miles in every direction. Regardless of the shade, it was still incredibly hot, a very humid heat at that. Sweat beaded along any of Kageyama's exposed skin. He was dirty and his hair was a tangled mess.

Kageyama had been on the horse for hours, nonstop moving forward. He was miles from his home and yet he still didn't feel like he was far enough to be safe from danger. His eyes were heavy from both mental and physical exhaustion. He felt many emotions, but was too tired to display them or comprehend the events that took place. Kageyama thought it could have just been a bad dream, but he felt it deep down that this was very real.

Kageyama came across a small pond of water, which felt like a blessing to him. He decided this would be the best place to rest for the time being. He could tell his horse was growing tired and slow. He jumped off the worn out horse and tied it to a tree next to the water. Kageyama attached his bow and quiver to the saddle. His crown was stuffed deep within the quiver. If he was found with a crown on his head, it would be a dead giveaway of his identity. Kageyama walked to the water's edge and felt it with the tip of his fingers. It was crystal clear and warm from the constant day's heat. Every colorful pebble within the ripples was visible. The horse approached the water and began drinking desperately. Kageyama felt guilty for pushing the animal so hard but it was for a good reason and he would make up for it later.

Kageyama stepped into the water, and continued to go inch by inch. The water felt refreshing against his dry and dirty skin. He had never felt so gross, he was pampered and clean at all times whilst in the palace. He did not like this one bit. Kageyama began running farther into the water by impulse until it was to his shoulders. The water splashed around him and hugged him like a comfy blanket on a cold night. He shivered as his body adapted to the temperature and his clothes stuck to him like glue, but he didn't mind. The water felt nice to him. Kageyama splashed water onto his face and ran his wet hands over his head to get his bangs out of the way.

The sun was beginning to set and Kageyama had no plan on what he was going to do. He never had to sleep in the middle of woods before, or anywhere beyond his bedroom in that case. He sat on the ground with his feet dipped in the water. He was ringing the water out of his drenched shirt and thinking about what he was going to do for the night. Though, it was hard to concentrate. Kageyama couldn't stop thinking about what happened to his father, his people, his kingdom. Was the king still alive? Were Hinata and Yachi okay? Kageyama was very much in the dark about everything. He didn't know what signal he should look out for or what he was to do now.

With some frustration and groans of anger, Kageyama managed to get a small fire started. He figured that although it was summer, the night would get a bit cold later on. The sky was now a bright orange and it lit the ground surrounding Kageyama. He sat next to his warming fire in silence. His stomach was churning and grumbling, he hadn't eaten since the previous day and it was making him feel weak. His horse was asleep and it made Kageyama feel very alone. He was in the middle of a random forest with no one. His chest panged with anxiety. He felt so lost and just wanted some comfort, it was hard for him to breathe without shaking.

The prince laid back on the bumpy ground. The leaves rattled above him and the breeze was crisp against his damp skin. The fire crackled next to him as the flames danced to keep him warm. He took a deep inhale and put his hands over his chest, locking his finger together. He wished that when he woke up, he would be back in his bedroom, ready to meet with his father and if he was lucky, ride through town. That was the life he was used to. It may seem boring or complex to the casual townsfolk, but that was how he lived. Did he like it? Of course. Kageyama loved the power he had and would have soon possessed. He wanted to lead people in the right direction. Now, Kageyama is ripped from all he was and had not a clue on what he was doing. It was hard for him.
