"Hey. everyone! This my apprentice, Fernkit." Echolight introduced. Pebblestream and Icepool from Stormclan, and Russetflight from Mistclan all greeted Fernkit cheerfully. "It's nice how the day of our medicine cat gathering and your initiation ceremony date clashes!" Icepool commented. Fernkit nodded happily. "Shush and walk faster," Echolight meowed from in front. Icepool shot a cheeky look at Fernkit, speeding up her steps. Time seemed to fly as Fernkit admired the beautiful scenery around her. The rustle of the leaves and the sound of cold winds was relaxing and calming. " It's up ahead!" Echolight told the group. Together, they ran towards the cave entrance. With the crystal clear icicles stretching down from the roof of the cave and the magical glisten of the Moonpool, Fernkit was filled with awe.
It felt so...mystical. Fernkit stood beforre the Moonpool with the other cats. "Fernkit, you have proved yourself a capable young cat. May Starclan watch over you as you serve the clan. From now, you will be known as Fernpaw." Echolight announced. Fernpaw was bursting with joy as she and the other cats let their noses touch the magical water. Fernpaw's body tingled. She felt like she had been transported to a separate universe.
"Fernpaw!" a young white cat said. Fernpaw ran over to the unknown cat. "Who are -----" Fernpaw tried to speak but was interrupted by the cat. "I'm Snowpaw. I was once a medicine cat apprentice like you, but then I..well I.. you know." Fernpaw nodded. "Anyways, I'm just here to tell you that something bad is going to happen." the cat continued, his tone light despite the weight of what he was saying. "I'd love to tell you more, but then your time is up. Sorry!" Snowpaw sparkled and faded. And so was the world of Starclan.
" Erm...Fernpas?" Echolight prodded Fernpaw with her paw. Fernpaw, feeling giddy,pried open her eyelids. " Sorry, I need to rest for a while longer," she rasped. When she shut her eyes again, she kept on hearing Snowpas saying something bad would happen. Fernpaw mentally told herself to wake up and stop thinking about it. Yet it shot out of her mouth as she stood up. " Something bad is going to happen!" she yowled. The other medicine cats looked at her in surprise.
Nobody spoke the entire journey back.
