Wonwoo fluttered his eyes open. Everything was blurry but he could still make out the faint shape of his glasses sitting on the bedside table. He put his glasses on, sitting up and throwing his legs to the side of his double bed.

It was 11:32AM.

He stood up and stretched, his arms reaching towards the ceiling. Wonwoo actually felt really well rested for once; he slept like a baby last night. This was his first free weekend in a long time, so he had the opportunity to sleep in, which he thankfully took. Who wouldn't?

He opened the curtains and admired the partial view he had of the city. It was barely visible in the heavy rain, but then again, that's the way he liked it. Wonwoo thought the rain was soothing.

After brushing his teeth and making his messy hair presentable, he made his way downstairs, the smell of food growing stronger and making Wonwoo's stomach growl. He was starving.
Wonwoo stepped into the kitchen and discovered his sister making breakfast. It was a rare sight. Wonwoo never let her make breakfast after the incident.

Long story short, Jiwoo almost set the house on fire three years ago, so Wonwoo didn't let her near the stove since then. Recently though, Wonwoo decided to give her a second chance. Thankfully, the house was still intact.

"Morning, sleepy head."

Wonwoo sat at the dining table and rubbed his eyes. "Morning." His voice was croaky since he'd just woken up but it was understandable nonetheless. "What are you making?"
"Breakfast. Just a simple one though, there's not much food to work from." Wonwoo groaned internally. He still had to go grocery shopping. Just when he thought he could do nothing for once. Eh, he'll just get Jiwoo to do it later.

Jiwoo placed bowls of steamed white rice, kimchi, pan–fried spam slices and egg rolls on the table along with a bowl of watermelon cubes for dessert.
"Looks delicious."
"Thank you! My cooking has improved right? I told you I've been practising."
"I'm just glad the house is okay." He smiled, picking up his chopsticks.
Jiwoo rolled her eyes. "Just eat the food."

After a surprisingly tasty breakfast, Wonwoo found himself sprawled out on the couch. Today was definitely going to be a lazy day, he could feel it in his bones.
After clearing away the table, Jiwoo sat on the armchair adjacent to the couch and seemed to be more giddy than usual; it was slightly driving Wonwoo nuts. "Can you stop bouncing your leg?"
Jiwoo turned to him and squealed unexpectedly. "Okay, I can't keep this a secret anymore."
Wonwoo sat up and tilted his head. "Please tell me you adopted a kitten and it's hiding in your room." Wonwoo raised his eyebrows expectantly. He's always wanted a cat.

"What? No, you know I don't like cats."
Wonwoo's shoulders slumped, but then a new question formed in his mind. One he didn't like so much.
"Do you... have a boyfriend or something?"
"W-What? No, I don't. W-Why would you think that?" She laughed nervously before changing the subject. Wonwoo squinted at her suspiciously, but decided to question her about it later.
Honestly, It's not that he didn't want Jiwoo to date; dating is a part of life and growing up; it's the fact that people can be cruel and heartless. He just didn't want anything to happen to her. Obviously, there's not much he could do, but he wanted to protect her as much as possible.

"—Are you even listening?"
"What?"
"I know you're totally gonna hate me for this but... I may have bought plane tickets to New York for us."
Wonwoo stood up, his expression going from one of curiosity to one of shock.
"You did... what?"
"Everything else is sorted too. I worked a few extra shifts, so I could afford things quicker than I thought I'd be able to. Aren't you excited?"

Wonwoo pushed his glasses up and crossed his arms. "I told you not to spend your money!"
"Wonwoo. It's my money. And I have decided that this is what I wanna spend it on. It's my decision."
"Okay but... still, I don't even know if I'll be able to get off work—"
"I already called your boss and asked him. He said since you haven't taken any days off in the last five years, he's giving you a month off. For now, at least."
"Well, what about your—"
"University? I start in two months. There's some sort of problem with the Uni building, so my classes were delayed until October."

Wonwoo stayed quiet, his gaze focused down towards the floor. His brain, on the other hand, searched for any reason to not go; he wasn't fond of planes; Unfortunately, he couldn't think of any.

"Any other excuses? I've sorted everything out already. At this point, it'd be a waste of my money if you didn't come."
"Alright fine. I'll come."
"Finally—"
"On one condition."
"What now?" She groaned in frustration.
Wonwoo grinned mischievously. This was perfect opportunity. "Go grocery shopping for me? I'll give you the money and a list."
"Deal. Now does this mean we're going?"
Wonwoo lay back down on the couch, eyes closed. "Sure."

"YAAAAAY!"
Wonwoo covered his ears as Jiwoo squealed to her heart's content. He was basically already blind without his glasses: he didn't need to lose his hearing too.

"Okay, okay! You can stop screaming." Jiwoo stopped immediately, not wanting to put Wonwoo off of going.
Wonwoo uncovered his ears. "When does the flight leave?"
"Saturday. Exactly two weeks from now."
"Okay, we'll pack next week."

Hours went by and Wonwoo had been glued to the couch all afternoon. He'd finished all the seasons of Tokyo Ghoul and was browsing for something else to begin watching.

Meanwhile, his sister had gone to the nearest supermarket to buy everything Wonwoo had written on the list.
Judging by the size of the list... she was going to be there for a while.

All was quiet in the house, until there was a knock at the door.
That's weird.
Wonwoo wasn't expecting anyone. Wonwoo hesitantly lifted himself off the couch and unlocked the front door.
To his dismay, it was Minghao.
Shit.

Wonwoo looked like a complete mess right now. His hair looked like a bird's nest and he was still in his pyjamas.
Minghao on the other hand, was dressed in a black bucket hat with a light striped blouse and jeans that he paired with some vans. He looked stunning.
He should really be a model, Wonwoo thought.

"Hey Wonwoo."
"H-Hi."
"This is kinda random, but I was at a store close by so I thought I'd drop by to ask you something..." He gulped and took a breath. "I wanted to ask for... for your number? O-Only if you're okay with it though. You don't have to. I just thought it would be cool if we hung out or something."
"Like... be f-friends?" Wonwoo has never really had friends after high school. He's never allowed himself to. Although, maybe he should...

"Yeah, something like that."

Wonwoo's face was getting hotter by the minute while his heart pound as though he'd just run a mile.
He didn't really want to give out his number because that would mean he would be giving Minghao a chance to get closer to him.
And the closer you get to people, the more likely you are to get attached.
Wonwoo didn't want to get attached.
Not again.
Yet somehow, he found himself giving Minghao his number.

"Thank you. I'll um... I'll go now." Minghao laughs nervously, as he waves and trudges away slowly. Wonwoo silently waves back.

If he didn't know how friendships worked before, he definitely needed to know now.
