Eleven years later

I sigh. Here we go again...

I am being sullen as I stare at the huge white building before me. I am a new student here, but I can already feel the gazes of the other children and their parents staring at me up and down. Yes, I am a new student here, but I am new to no one.
My name is Eirlys, I am the proud daughter of the great feared Icy, the leader of the Trix. And wherever I go, wherever I walk, people look ill-at-ease and nervous, as if I was contagious or about to pounce on them at any opportunity.
My aunt gently puts her hand on my shoulder, feeling my annoyance. She knows me by heart. She raised me with my other aunt, who didn't come to my back to school today, as she is not really an early bird...
My two aunts are preys to these stares as much as I am, but they both seem to take this perfectly well, with a certain undisguised shameless pride.

"Come on, Eirlys. You have to go now."

I sigh. "Yes, aunt Darcy. I know."

My aunt sighs too and strokes my hair. "Be careful." she simply says.

I nod and walk towards the building, taking deep breaths. Middle school, here I come!
As soon as I arrive in the hall, the other students stop talking to rather start whispering things to each other, pointing at me.
It is nothing new to me. In the consequences of my name and of my silver-coloured hair, the rare times when I got out of our house, not many children dared to come talk to me or play with me. Even if it used to hurt me a bit, I've always suppressed it, acting like it didn't matter at all.
As I look around the large hall, someone suddenly bump into me. A girl.

"Oh, s-sorry, I didn't see you, I was reading and, um..." the blond girl stammers, blushing in embarrassment.

"It's alright. I should have been more careful too anyway." I respond.

The girl smiles slightly and I find myself smiling back, being pleasantly surprised by the lack of fear or scorn in her eyes.

"By the way, my name is Leah." the girl introduces herself.

I nod. "Eirlys."

"I know, everybody talks about you around here..." she responds.

I wince slightly. "Oh, really?" I say in a blank tone.

"No offence, but I think you don't really got a good reputation..."

I am about to reply, when a red-haired boy walks up to us. He stops walking at about one foot from me, his arms crossed as he stares at me.

"So, you're here." he comments.

"Yes, you have a problem with that?" I snap coldly with gritted teeth.

An ironic smirk appears on his face. "They're right, you are as mean as your mother."

"Yes, I am mean! Very mean! And I also bite! So get lost." I snap sarcastically.

As the boy doesn't move an inch, I start creating a little ball of ice magic in the palm of my hand, staring at him threatingly.

"You are not allowed to use magic within the school!" he snaps.

"Oh yeah? Want me to show you?" I reply challenginly.

The boy is about to talk back, when some of his friends walk up to him.

"Come on James, let's go. That witch is not worth it." one of them says.

'James' shrugs and finally leaves with his stupid friends. "Hey you, you should stop sympathise with this witch." he tells Leah over his shoulder. "Who knows, maybe she is trying to brainwash you to get you to help her enslave the Magic Dimension..." he mocks, making his friends laugh idiotically.

I can't help snarling at him angrily. I am used to those kinds of comments, but this boy manages to get under my skin for some reason.

"Don't listen to them. I know you wouldn't do that..." Leah tries to comfort me.

I shrug. "He's just some stupid little jerk." I growl under my breath.

"Um...can you really cast spells already?" Leah asks me curiously.

I smile slightly. "Some, but I often fail. We are too young to master one perfectly yet."

She is about to say something when the bells suddenly ring, announcing the first class of the day. We both look at each other and sigh. "Let's go..."

As we drag our feet to the classroom, I suddenly get pushed by someone, making me almost collapse. I turn around and glare furiously at the girl who did this. "Be careful, you idiot!"

The girl stares at me with a scornful smile on her face. Oh, she is so asking for it...

"Not my fault if you're transparent, miss albino."

She then laughs with her friends at the nickname.
Miss albino? Pathetic. The other silly gooses seem to find it amusing though.
The girl pushes me a second time and then walks away.
I feel myself blushing furiously as I keep walking towards the classroom with Leah.

I sigh. Here we go again...

Okay, so this is a very short chapter, I know. But I had writer's block about how I could start the story.
Now that the big introduction is made, the more interesting stuffs are soon going to arrive... ;)
