Cayley's POV

As I was walking home from my little walk on this Sunday afternoon, I ran into a little girl who was crying. I felt so bad for her.

"Are you okay?" I ask as I approached the little girl.

"Please don't hurt me!" She says with tears in her eyes.

"I'm not going to hurt you. Do you need help getting home?" I ask with a smile.

"I...don't...wanna go home." She says.

"Why not?" I ask.

"They're fighting again..." She says quietly.

I help her stand up and she holds my hand. She directs me towards a broken down house that had a couple of rats near it.

"This is where you live?" I ask.

She nods her head. I hear arguments coming from the house. They gradually get louder and louder. I look over at her, she starts to cry all over again.

"This is all your fault! We wouldn't be living a life like this!" Screamed the woman from the house.

"Karen!" Yelled a brown haired boy.

Karen, guessing that that was her name, just held my hand tighter.

"Karen, where were you? We were worried sick." The boy says and gave her a hug.

"I'm fine, Kevin." She mumbles.

He lets go of her and looks up at me.

"Thanks for bringing back our little sister. I'm Kevin." He says and we handshake.

"Cayley Diviron." I say.

"And this is Karen. We have another brother, but I think he's still walking from school." Kevin says.

"Why are you guys outside?" I ask.

"Our parents are fighting again." He says.

I feel like bursting into tears and hugging both of them. It reminds me so much of my life.

"He's back!" Karen yells and runs past me.

I direct my attention towards the direction Karen was running in.

"Cayley?" Kenny says as he hugs Karen.

"Hi Ken." I smile.

"What are you doing here?" He asks as he gets closer to me.

"She found Karen." Kevin says.

I stare back at the house and continued to hear the arguing. I actually feel myself tear up. How can they put up with this everyday? Well, I should know.

~Flashback~

I sat in my room as I heard my parents argue, using fowl language and hear things being broken. I try to cover my ears, but the words just keep slipping in.

"You ba*****! I loved you and this is how you repay me?!" I hear my mom scream.

"I'm sick and tired of you! You and that stupid daughter of yours are the worst thing that ever happened to me!" My drunken dad yells.

I feel tears roll down my face.

"I hate you! Just get out of my life!" My mom yells back.

More tears roll down. I open my door and run outside. The rain soaks me and my parents didn't even bother to get me since they were so busy arguing. I stare at my house and break down crying. My dad storms out and I see that it was finally over. My family is broken. No one was there to comfort me since I was an only child. No one to help me get through anything.

~End of Flashback~

Tears slowly came down as I continued to listen to their arguing. I was broken from my trance when Kenny held my shoulder.

"Cayley, are you okay?" He asks.

"Um..yeah." I say wiping away my tears.

He brought me into a tight embrace. I feel my heart to flutter and a few tears got onto his parka. He releases and gives me a smile.

"Are you guys dating?" Karen asks in curiosity.

"N-No. We're just really good friends." I stutter.

"Oh. Kevin, I'm hungry." Karen says.

"I am too, but all the food is in the house." He sighs.

"Would you guys like to eat at my house?" I ask.

"Oh, no. We wouldn't want to be a bother." Kevin says.

"You guys wouldn't. My mom is at work and she doesn't mind if I have a couple of friends at home. Besides, it gets really lonely when my mom is always gone 24/7." I say.

We walk towards my house and Karen comes up to me and holds my hand as she walks.

Kenny's POV

I see Karen run up to Cayley and hold her hand. She has a big smile on her face and laughing. Cayley has gotten Karen's mind off of our parents. We arrive at her house and she unlocks the door.

"You guys can watch some T.V if you guys want." She says and hands us the remote.

She smiles and walks into the kitchen. We flip the T.V and watch. A couple of minutes later, the doorbell rings. Cayley runs to it and opens the door, revealing the pizza guy.

"$18.22" He says.

Cayley takes out her wallet and pays for it. I look over at Kevin, he has the same shocked expression as me. She takes the pizza as well as her change.

"You know, if you aren't doing anything later, maybe you and I could..." The pizza guy started to say.

"No, get out of my face." Cayley says and shuts the door in his face.

She places the pizza on the coffee table in front of us.

"Sorry, guys. I couldn't make anything with our ingredients, so I just bought you guys pizza." She smiles.

She flips the box open and the steam comes out. We just stare at it, realizing what she has done for us.

"Well, go ahead. Dig in." She smiles again.

We all take a piece and eat. After we finish, she brings us ice cream. It turns late and, sadly, we had to head home.

"Are you sure you guys don't want me to come with you?" She asks.

"No, we'll be fine and thanks for everything." I say carrying the sleeping Karen.

"And Kenny wouldn't want you to get hurt." Kevin winks.

I blush.

"Oh, one more thing." She says.

We all turn back around.

"No matter how bad things get, just remember, you'll always have each other. Unlike me, I had no one. Take care of each other." She says and puts on another smile.

We gave her a smile and started to walk home.

"Hey Kenny." Kevin says.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"She's a good one, don't let her go." He says to me.

"I like her. Can we see her tomorrow?" Karen asks.

"Sure." I say and start to blush.

Cayley's POV

I watch as they walk out of sight and close the front door. I get ready for bed and lie awake in my bed. Okay, okay. I admit. Kenneth "Kenny" McCormick, you're making me believe in love again.
