Cayley's POV
I declined my mom's offer to drop me off. I told her I didn't mind to take the bus. I skipped to the bus stop and to my surprise, the guys were already there. Cartman seemed to be picking on Kenny today, but not on my watch.
"Geez, Kinny. Why do you have to be so poor?" Cartman said.
Kenny didn't do anything. I couldn't just sit there and watch this happen.
"Cartman, just leave him alone." I said.
"So what? He doesn't care." Cartman said continuing to pick on Kenny.
"But I do. You don't see me telling you how 'big boned' you are." I said.
Cartman finally stopped.
"You only stood up for him because you love him." Cartman teased.
I feel myself tense up, but not like a blush.
"Let's get one thing straight. I don't believe in love. That includes fairytales, Prince Charmings, love at first sight, true love, and/or happily ever afters. I was just helping him. Someone has to stand up to you." I said.
Kenny's POV
She stood up for me. She stood up to Cartman. But more importantly, she doesn't believe in love. Now I know that there is no way to win her heart. The bus came and dropped us off to school. The only highlight of my day so far was sitting next to Cayley. During the middle of the lesson, I got bored. I lifted my textbook and made it stand up. Since I sat all the way in the back, I was managed to read a couple of PlayBoy magazines. I took one out of my backpack and flipped through the pages. Cayley stares at me as I flipped through more pages. I feel myself blush. She takes out a piece of paper and scribbles something down. She passes it to me.
It's okay. It's normal for people our age.....I guess?
I smile at how understanding she was. She leans back into her single-desk chair and sighs. What happened?
Cayley's POV
Always. It's always the quiet ones who are the most perverted. I sigh at the thought. Why? Why Kenny? I don't "love" him, but I am concerned for him. Yes, it is normal, but I just wish he had an innocence to him. The bell rings and start to walk home.
"Cayley!" Kenny calls behind me, but in his muffled voice.
"Oh, Kenny." I said.
"Mfph mffmf mffmph, mphf mphfff? (You must think I'm weird now, huh?)" He asks.
"Maybe at first, but at my old school, there were a lot of perverts there." I laughed.
I stopped walking to think.
"Mff mfph? (What's wrong?)" Kenny asks stopping as well.
"Nothing..I just..." I started to say.
"Mfph? (What?)" He says.
"I want ice cream." I laughed.
He laughed as well.
Kenny's POV
Man, she's adorable. She's very understanding as well.
"Kenny, do you wanna go get some ice cream?" She asks me.
I say sure and we started to walk toward the ice cream parlor. We had a whole conversation about school, people, and Cartman.
"It's okay that you're poor, Kenny. Financial problems....they just happen." She said.
I smile under my hood at her understanding.
"And that little perverted thing that you have is very....unique." She says.
Not only does she understand what I'm saying, but she also understands my life... As if she lived the same life I have. We cross the street to get to the ice cream parlor. The stoplight turned red, but a truck came speeding down the street. The dude driving it was on his cellphone. Great. Am I gonna die again? Just as the truck was about to hit me, I was pushed out of the way.
Cayley's POV
I see a stupid truck driver on his cellphone driving full speed down the street when it was a red light. Kenny was about to get hit, so I pushed him out of the way. Luckily, none of us got hurt. I, however, fell on top of him. I lightly blush and he does the same. I quickly stand up and help him up as well. I wasn't gonna let him die right before we get my ice cream!
Kenny's POV
She's doing all types of things for me today. Standing up for me. Understanding me. Saving me. She saved my life...even though it's impossible for me to die.
"Mf mphf mf mfph. (You saved my life.)" I said.
"Well, duh! I needed someone to get ice cream with." She laughed.
I laughed as well.
"No, I'm just kidding. Of course I would save your life, Kenny. You're like my best friend! Even though I've only known you for a few days." She said.
I'm her best friend? I've been promoted! If only I could tell her... Tell her how I feel about her. One of these days I will.
Cayley's POV
I pulled up Kenny. We walked into the ice cream parlor and I feel like a little kid again.
"Ice cream~" I cheerfully say and look around.
I order half a scoop of vanilla and the other half chocolate in a cone.
"Kenny, what do you want?" I asked as I take out my wallet.
He declined my offer. Did he just say no to ice cream?! He said that he didn't want to be a bother.
"No, it's okay, Kenny. Besides, you almost died. You're gonna get something!" I joked.
He laughed. He finally agreed and I gave him a vanilla cone. Finally, I was gonna see his face! As we walked towards my house, he pulled down his hood, but just so his mouth was showing.
"Dang it!" I said as I ate mine.
"What? You wanted to see my whole face?" He laughed.
I blush at the sound of his voice. He finished his ice cream before we got to my house and he fixed his hood.
"Bye Kenny. Thank you for accompanying me." I said.
Kenny's POV
She brought me into a warm embrace. I felt my face tense up and my heart started to beat faster. She let go, smiled, and gently closed the door. I walked home and lied down on my bed. I couldn't get her out of my head. Man, I've got it bad.
