"I can't believe I actually get to see you! It's been three years!" My best friend, Jenna, squealed. "Yeah, yeah. Where are you? I'm tired of waiting." I said.
If you can't already tell, I'm visiting my best friend for the summer. I moved to Arizona from California about three years ago and have missed my old friends so much. The only friend I've kept in contact with is Jenna.
"Erica! Are you even listening to me?" Jenna asked. "Sorry, I'm just so excited to see you!" I claimed, faking excitement. I'm really tired of waiting. "I said, look left." I looked to my left, and, sure enough there stood Jenna.
She looked like an older version of the thirteen year old Jenna with the exceptions of shorter hair and contacts.
"Jenna!" I exclaimed, pulling her into a hug. "It's been too long." She mumbled. "Yes it has." I agreed. "Come on. Dad's waiting in the car." She said, grabbing my duffel bag.
"To relaxation!" I said. "I wouldn't be so sure about that. We still have Suzy to deal with." She said as we walked out of the airport. "Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about Suzy! I can't wait to squeeze the life out of her!" I smiled. "You are one strange person if you like my sister."
"Hey! You like Matthew!" I argued. "But you're brother is the cutest thing ever! How old is he now, anyways? Five?" She asked. "Yup."
"Erica!" Mr. King smiled. "Hi, Mr. King." I said, giving him a hug. He's changed a lot more than Jenna has.
His, used to be, full head of hair is now shaved into a buzz cut. His bushy beard, that I loved, is now nothing but a bit of stubble. He's gotten taller, if that's even possible, and he's a lot skinnier.
"You've change quite a bit there, Cupcake." He said. I've always loved that nickname. He first called me that at my fourth birthday party. I was caught sneaking a cupcake when he said, "It's not time for cupcakes, Cupcake."
I smiled at the memory, "I haven't changed that much, have I?" I asked, looking at Jenna. She nodded and said, "I almost didn't recognize you. I just so happened to see the duffel bag I decorated you for you twelfth birthday."
I shrugged. The only thing that has changed is the fact that I now have contacts just as Jenna. Okay, so maybe my hair's longer, I have highlights, and I'm taller. I still see no major changes.
"Well, let's go. Mrs. King has made a special meal for tonight." He said as he set my bags in the trunk of the car. "Thanks." I said and climbed in the backseat after Jenna.
About an hour later, we arrived at the King residence. As soon as we got inside, I ran to the bathroom to relieve myself. I then walked to the kitchen where everyone was. "Erica!"
"Mrs. King!" I smiled. I was then pulled into a bone crushing hug. "Luke! Can't breathe!" I said. He set me down and kissed my cheek. "How's little Erica been?" He asked, ruffling my hair. "Erica's been fine. What's this little you speak of?" I asked Jenna's nineteen year old brother, Luke, while fixing my hair. "Aww, come on. You'll always be littler than me."
"And smarter." I mumbled. "Oh, come on." He smiled, showing off his perfect teeth. "Whatever. Where's Suzy?" I whined. "Here I am!"
"Yay! Come here, you adorable little girl!" I said, picking her up and squeezing her. She giggled, and I put her down. "Erica, are you hungry?" Mrs. King asked. "I heard you cooked so yes, I'm starving!" I said, making everyone laugh.
We all ate, and Jenna showed me to the guest room even though I already knew where it was. "Thanks, I think I'm going to take a shower then head to bed. I woke up too early today." I laughed. "Okay, well rest up. Tomorrow we're going to the beach!" She exclaimed. "Did I hear beach?"
