Chapter 6

You shut your car door and walked into Eren's backyard, where Jean (another eyewitness you had talked with), Marco (and another), and Eren were working on replacing the back door.

Jean waved a gloved hand,"Hey (Name)."

"Hey guys." you smiled.

"Hey (Name), what's up?" Marco smiled.

"Just gonna check out that area back there." you said, pointing to the treeline.

"Be careful, those brambles are thick." Eren warned.

"Do you have any hedge clippers?" you asked.

"Yeah, in the garage." he said, screwing in the doorframe.

You quickly retrieved the clippers and walked over to the brush, where you trimmed away the thorns in your way until your path was clear. Then you looked around you. Footprints caught your eye, leading through the forest. You followed them, watching out for low hanging branches.

As you walked along, you noticed the footprints changing in size. The webbings were gone, too. The dry dirt and leaves turned into rocks quickly when you came upon the lake. The footprints stopped as well.

You looked around at the beautiful scenery,"Where are you...?"

"Looking for someone?" a bored voice called.

"Hm?" you looked at saw the same rude guy from yesterday, sitting at the edge of the water in a plaid red shirt and holding a fishing pole,"Oh, its you.."

"Hm? Have we met before or something?" he asked, quirking a brow.

"Yeah, yesterday." you crossed your arms grumpily.

He tilted his head to the side as if he didn't recall it, but you knew he was faking it.

"You bumped into me and while I kindly apologized you were all like," you squared your shoulders mockingly,"PFTCH, WATCH IT KID."

The man nodded,"Ahh, yes, I do remember you. Well, first of all, you should watch where you're going, and second of all, I do not look or talk like that."

"Hmph, whatever." you crossed your arms again,"Maybe you need to be a little bit nicer, would that kill anyone?"

The man froze and slowly turned his head to look you dead in the eye,"Maybe it would."

You stood speechless, staring at him in confusion. The man rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Tch, I was just joking, kid, jeez." he said, focusing on the water,"What's your name, anyways?"

You hesitated, then spoke,"(Name)...And you are?"

"Levi." he stood and reeled in his cast,"What brings you to Ehailat (Name)?"

"An investigation." you said,"I'm looking for the lake monster everyone has seen."

He seemed to go rigid, fiddling with the hook. Then he cast the line out and sighed.

"I'd be careful if I were you, that monster looks dangerous." Levi said, sounding a little angry. You noticed how hard he was gripping the handle, his knuckles were nearly turning white. He glared at you,"Watch your back."

".....Will do.....thanks..." you said, turning around to leave. You hesitated at the trees and turned back to him,"It was a pleasure to meet you, Levi."

Then you left. Levi cast out the line again and sighed, gritting his sharp teeth,"The pleasure's all mine..."
