CHAPTER SIX
A LITTLE BIT LONGER
Finally. We finally made it next in line. "You two again?" I looked up to see Big Rob and gave him a grin. "It's nice to see you again, too," I replied. He chuckled softly and shook his head. "Hopefully we'll never have to meet the way we did before." Josh placed a hand against my shoulder. "Yeah, that'd be my fault," he confessed. I looked over at him and he winked. Rob stepped out of the door way and allowed us to pass through.
"Sam! Josh!" I smiled over at the boys, waving. Again, we exchanged hugs, Joe being last. And again, the hug lasted a little longer than it should have, but I didn't care. I felt safe. I pulled back and smiled over at them as they shook hands with Josh. "So, we were wondering," Kevin started.
"You don't have to answer, okay? We just got curious," Nick took over. "You said that your grandmother died... Do you mind telling us about it?" My eyes widened a bit, caught off guard by the question. My lips parted to speak, but nothing came out. I didn't blame them for being curious. Nodding slowly, Josh led me to one of the soft chairs that sat towards the back of the room, across from the couch. The brothers sat on the couch while Josh sat in the chair parallel to me, holding onto my hand.
"Um.. Well..." I exhaled, closing my eyes. "My grandmother was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. She was already in a late stage, so there was nothing they could do for her. Nothing helped.." I gave Josh's hand a gentle squeeze as I fought back the tears. "We prayed. Every night. And I don't pray. But for her I did. Even in Spanish." A weak, dead chuckle left my lips. "It helped to take away the pain, but it wasn't enough.." My jaw tightened and I slowly opened my tear filled eyes.
"O-oh wow... We're very sorry," Kevin said. Joe reached over the couch and grabbed a tissue box before handing it to me. I nodded in thanks and took a few, wiping my tears away. "Look, we'll talk to our dad about making a foundation to help research and scientist," he continued. My head snapped up and I looked at him. "R-really..? You'd do that?" They all nodded.
"Of course we would. It's a serious matter," Joe stated. I looked over at him and nodded. I patted Josh's arm and we both stood up. I bit my lower lip with a soft sigh.
"Well, we better go. Don't want to keep your other fans waiting," I mumbled. The boys frowned and Joe stepped forward.
"But you just got here," he retorted kindly. I gave him a weak smile and he scratched the back of his head. "Then hang out with us after the show. We don't leave until everyone's gone anyway." Kevin and Nick shared a look before nodding in approval of Joe's offer.
"I don't know..." I looked up at Josh who was holding back a small grin and nodded. Sighing, I turned back to Joe and nodded. "Looks like I'm out numbered. So.. Do we just come back here?" Joe nodded.
"Yeah, we'll tell Big Rob to keep an eye out for you. Maybe we can get something to eat after." Smiling softly, I nodded, pushing my hair back and behind my ears.
"Sounds like a plan to me and Josh," I answered. Joe made a face at the mention of 'Me and Josh' but quickly recovered, grinning.
"Alright then, it's a date," he stated cooly. I chuckled softly and linked my arm with Josh as we walked out. It didn't bother me that our things were autographed. I gained something better. The start of what seemed like a friendship. As we walked out and towards our seats, Josh nudged my side, his brows wiggling teasingly.
"Someone just got asked out by Joe Jonas.~" He whispered. I playfully hit his arm, blushing. "Shut it," I told him. "I wasn't asked out. Because we were both invited, remember?" Josh shrugged. "Yeah, well, it looked like he didn't want me to go. I think he's jealous." I laughed softly and grinned. "Good. He better be jealous. You're way too awesome." Josh grinned down at me and I grinned back at him.
