Brothers To The Bitter End

Dick watched as Lady Shiva made the trade with Lex Luthor. He was there to make sure everything went right. And if it didn't, he was there to make sure Shiva made it out and Luthor didn't.

He touched a hand to his ear. "All clear out there, Rebel?"

"Duh. But then it's not like Lex can just throw out guys willy nilly. If he's really planning on betraying us, he'll have them hold back until we're ready." Jason's irritated voice came over the comms. When Jason had become a full fledged member of the League, Dick had given him the codename "Rebel" to go along with his own, "Renegade." Damian was often called the Demon's Son by the other League members, but privately or on comms Dick called him "Raider."

"I was making conversation more than anything else, Rebel. I'm bored too." Dick watched Luthor carefully as he continued to banter with his brother.

"Both of you shut up." Damian snapped suddenly. "I see movement in the bushes."

"Whoop-de-doo. It's a bunny. Thank you, next." Rebel fired back.

"I know what a rabbit looks like, Todd. This is too big and too many bushes moving. I think they're getting ready for something."

"Ok, Raider. Keep your position and let me know when they start coming out. Rebel, you and Raider keep those guys out there as much as you can. I don't doubt that Luthor has something hidden in this stupid warehouse that Shiva and I will have to handle. If all else fails, retreat and don't look back." Renegade gave his instructions quickly before turning his attention back to Lady Shiva and Luthor below.

"Well, Shiva, it has been a pleasure as usual. But I'm afraid that this is the last time I'll need your help." Luthor said smugly.

You're an idiot, Luthor, Renegade thought. This man was a world renowned criminal and yet he had the gall to try to double cross the League.

"None of this adds up." Renegade muttered on comms. "Why would he want to break ties with the League? It's not like we do business with everyone."

"The bushes are still moving." Raider reported. "But it's too uniform. They want our attention over here. Todd, they're going to enter on your side of the building."

"I hate life." Rebel sighed.

Below Renegade, Luthor continued with his speech. "You see, I found a better backer than the League of Assassins. And even better, association with them doesn't hold the promise of jail."

Renegade had been paying attention to his brothers and Luthor but his attention snapped up to the roof where he saw a dark figure standing there.

"Blast it all. I know who's here! It's the. . ." Renegade was cut off by a glass shattering and raining down on Shiva. A man in all black with a cape jumped from the roof and landed by Luthor. He was followed by a man in a blue leotard and a red cape, a woman in a red and blue suit, a green suited man surrounded by a green aura, a cyborg, and a woman with hawk like wings.

"Justice League," Shiva spit out the words like it was poison. She was totally surrounded by the League members, but she appeared relatively unruffled. No matter how good these guys were, her backup was better. "What brings you here?" She stalled, hoping that Renegade was able to come up with a plan quickly.

"Ok guys. . . Here's the plan." Renegade laid it out quickly for his brothers. "Let's go."

Raider creeped over to the hole in ceiling and carefully aimed his gun for Hawkwoman. He took a deep breath and pulled the trigger.

Rebel snuck down through one of the access ports to the roof onto the rafters. He carefully set up his own gun, aimed at Green Lantern, and then pulled out a long length of rope.

Renegade checked to make sure his katana were in place and sighted Batman in on his gun sights.

"You're part of the organization known as the League of Assassins." Batman said to Shiva. "We're taking you in for crimes of immeasurable quantity as well countless murders."
