The Bending Ninja

Chapter 4

(Hani POV)

We were officially genin of the Leaf Village. We were helping out the village mission after mission and it was...boring. It was tiring, and I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Right now Naruto was making a fuss about our missions to the Third and Iruka. I had no problem helping others out but I want to protect people, not do chores. On the bright side, none of them have asked about me fighting style, maybe because I haven't had to use it on these missions. 

I noticed Naruto had stopped talking. "Very well," the Hokage began. "I will give you a C-rank mission." Thats surprising. I guess Naruto's ranting worked. "You're mission will be protecting someone." 

"Oh who is it? A lord? A princess?" Naruto was excited and honestly, so was I.

"The client will enter right now." The doors on the side opened up as an old man holding a bottle came in.

"What's this?! These are the people who are expected to keep me safe?! Are you sure you're ninja? The short one just looks like an idiot!"

Sigh. Our first C-rank mission and we get stuck with someone so rude. I get why Naruto's upset as he's rambling about killing him. But he is the client. I hear Kakashi-sensei  tell us to go prepare and meet at the gate.

Shota wasn't home. He was probably training or doing a small mission with his team. So I left him a note saying I was going out on a C-rank mission. We left the village as soon as everyone arrived includeng our client, Tazuna the bridge builder. We walked along the path towards the Land of Waves. Quite boring really. 

Passing by a puddle, I decided to pick it up to play around with it. I took my hand and held it towards the puddle, and then brought it up...My movements did a quick pause before I continued walking. The water didn't move...that means...it must be infused with chakra. I can't really bend things infused with someone else's chakra. It's difficult but possible. It just takes a lot more chakra because you need to compete with the others chakra. 

I looked back to Kakashi who seemed to have slowed down the tiniest bit to fall further back a bit. Ha made eye contact with me but before I could even think, I saw fast movement. "Sensei, look out!" but it was too late. The chains wrapped around and split him to pieces as everyone gasped. The 2 ninjas ran towards Naruto, and Sasuke jumps into action. He used shuriken to attach the chain to a tree, lands on their arms, and kicks their heads, which separates them from their chain. They dash once the chain breaks, one heads towards Naruto and the other towards Tazuna and Sakura places herself infront of the bridge builder with a simple kunai. 'Protect the bridge builder.' I dash infront of her and I notice Sasuke about to do the same but he stepped back when he saw me raise my hands up a bit and call fire to my hands preparing my mind to attack...

Kakashi appeared...he stopped both ninja. I looked back to the place Kakashi sensei was last and saw logs. I hear him speak.

"I'm sorry Naruto. I should have stepped in and help sooner but I didn't think you would freeze up like that. Good job Sasuke. You too Sakura. Hani, you noticed their presence before they attacked, impressive."

Sasuke taunted Naruto. "Hey. You alright, loser?" "Why you!"

"Naruto," sensei called out. "It's not the time to fight. Their claws have poison. We have to take care of the wound. For now stay as still as possible. Mr. Tazuna, I need to speak with you. 

"A puddle with no rain in days and bright skies. These ninja were waiting for us." "If you knew they were there, why did you let them attack you?" "I could have taken them out but I needed to know if their target was you or one of us ninja. The mission given was to protect you from theives. It said nothing about anyone wanting to take your life mentioned. to protect you from ordinary dangers while you finished the bridge would be simple, but if you expected to be the target of ninjas, then this would at least be an A-rank mission."

Sakura spoke up, talking about the mission difficulty and well-being of Naruto, but I didn't hear it because Sasuke approached me. "That fire...wh-" I cut him off before he could continue.

"You have some good moves. Quick reaction time too." I gave a sweet smile and walked away. I could hear him let out a "hmph." 

Guess I was in time to see Naruto stab his wound to let the poison out. "I won't ever freeze up again. No one will have to save me again. With this kunai, I swear to protect the old man!"

"That's great Naruto, but if you loose more blood, you could bleed to death." "NOOOOOO!!!!!"

Kakashi patched up Naruto's wound and all was fine. We continued with our mission. Tazuna explained what was going on during our boat ride after Kakashi-sensei threatened to leave him once the boat reached the shore. Sounds like it'll be an interesting, and possibly tough, mission.

We walked down a path after getting ashore. Naruto goes ahead and starts throwing kunai and shuriken like a mad man. Sigh. One of them almost hit a white rabbit. Kakashi seemed quite interested in it. I wonder why.

"EVERYONE TAKE COVER!!"
