The Bending Ninja

Chapter 1

(Hani's POV)

It was the day I would get placed into my team. I'm super excited but, I'm also a little nervous because I have never met any of the other students before. I walked into the academy and walked around until I found the right classroom. My brother and his team are going out on a mission this afternoon and had to meet up with his team this morning, so he couldn't bring her today like he wanted to.

I opened the door and walked in, feeling a little nervous and shy. Thankfully, there was something going on that took away the attention from me walking in and sitting down in the back. There was so much chaos going around one area it was difficult to see what was going on, so I just relaxed.

Eventually a teacher came in and talked for a moment before announcing the teams. I've actually seen several of the people in here around the village. There's a guy in orange who gets in trouble quite a bit. There's an Inuzuka who are always surrounded by dogs. There's an Uchiha who everyone knows about, although I rarely see him.

"Team 7, which will have 4 members: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, an-"

"Iruka Sensei, why does a great ninja like me have to get paired up with a scum like him!" Naruto exclaimed. I could see most of the females of the class getting upset at what he said.

"Because, Naruto, we balance out the teams which means putting the one with the best score, Sasuke, with the worst score, you." He sat back down defeated. "And Hani Kizumi. Team 8: Kiba Inuzuka, Hinata..." Iruka sensei continued.

So, that's my team. The trouble maker Naruto, Sasuke the famous last Uchiha excluding his rouge brother, and a Sakura Haruno. Is she the girl that stood up when Naruto spoke out? The one with the pink hair?

I look over. She's looking at me. I look away quickly. I guess she was looking for me too, a face she has never --seen in class to a name that wasn't heard in class.

We got a lunch break, and I just went out and ate a simple box lunch. We went back in to wait for and meet our sensei. I went in and took the seat in the back again. As time passed by, all the teams have been picked up by their sensei...except for ours.

The pink haired girl looked up at me, got up and walked to where I was sitting. Oh no. I'm going to be awkward, won't I? I look at her as she reaches me.

"Hi, you must be Hani." "Yeah, I'm her..." "Why have I never seen you here before?"

What is she expecting? That there's something wrong with me that I couldn't be around other students? That I'm too weak or sick? That I was too dangerous or suspicious to be let around others?

No that's ridiculous. She wouldn't have approached me if she thought I was dangerous. But still, throw the fact that its not usual to not study at the academy right into my face...

"I, uh, did self-study..." Well I'm awkward... "Oh, I see." And yet you probably really don't know. Unless you know about our kekkei genkai.

"Oh! I'm Sakura Haruno by the way." She smiled, and I smiled back. We looked to the front as we noticed Naruto sticking an eraser in the door. Sakura returned to the front. "Hey! What are you doing?"

"That's what our sensei gets for being late!" Sasuke chimed in, "Our sensei is a Jounin, an elite ninja. You think he'll fall for a cheap trick like that?"

As he finished saying that, the door opened, and a white-haired head popped in, getting hit by the eraser. I get up and walk down to the front of the classroom. Sakura apologized for Naruto, and Naruto just laughed.

Our sensei's first word to us came up, "Hmm, how can I put this? My first impression of this group, you're a bunch of idiots." How can he say that!?! And so simply and casual? Is it even ok for a sensei to say that?

We moved out to the rooftop of one of the buildings to introduce ourselves. "You can say things you like, things you hate, dreams for the future, hobbies. Things like that." "Why don't you say your introduction first, sensei?" Asked Sakura.

What I got out of their introductions is, our sensei is Kakashi Hatake, Naruto loves Ramen and wants to be Hokage. Sakura is very into Sasuke. Sasuke wants revenge for his clan.

"Last one." "My name is Hani Kizumi. I like challenges, and hate feeling weak. My dream...it's actually not something I have really thought about, and my hobbies includes training."

"Well it looks like you are all unique. We will have our first mission tomorrow."

"What kind of mission is it?" "It's a training exercise, not like those you have done in the academy."
"What makes it different?"

"Hehehe. You won't like what you hear. Of the 28 students, no more than 10 students will become Genin. The rest will fail and return to the academy. It's about a 60% chance of failure."

WHAT?!?! I had to speak up! "But we already took exams!!! How could we be sent back to the academy just like that?!?"

"Those exams were to pick candidates of who may become a Genin. Training will be at 5am. And it's best to skip breakfast."

So I believe a new character would change some of the things that happen in Naruto, although not everything. I would like to have people VOTE on these things. Now should I create a separate post or ask a single question in a chapter at a time?
