Chapter 6 – Always, and I mean always be on you guard.

Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one ~ Bruce Lee.

I woke up with the sun shining down upon me. With a smile, I stretched and yawned as I searched for my phone which was under my pillow to check the time. It read 8 am in large red numbers. I thought of what I was going to do as I headed to the bathroom.

I had a feeling that today was going to be a good day.

After freshening myself up and enjoying a quick shower that lasted for fifteen minutes, I put on fading blue denim shorts and a dark blue chequered shirt.

I popped my head in to Justine’s room to check if she had come home last night. Fortunately, she was sprawled across her bed with a leg dangling off her bed. She was still in her last night’s gear and that included her black heels and lacy black dress that showed off her chest.

I went downstairs to get my self some breakfast. I pulled out a bowl from one of the cupboards and poured myself a delightful bowl of Honeypuffs. If you don’t know what these are, then they’re a honey flavoured cereal that tasted so amazingly good.

The sun is shining,

Wake up sleepy heads,

It’s time to get out of b...e...e...ed…’

The advertisement replayed in my head, like a broken iPod. After breakfast, I went to look for Alphie so I could take him out for a walk. I went to find some paper bags to put in my pocket, for in case he needed to do his business.

“Alphie, go fetch your lead” He returned in a matter of minutes with his lead in his mouth.

“That’s a good boy!” I lovingly stroked his head and hugged him.

I wrote a note for Justine telling her that I was going to be out for a bit.  I gently locked the door. As soon as I locked the gate, Alphie began to sprint like a lunatic. I didn’t find it very hard to keep up as we took regular walks together.

Seeing that I was new to the neighbourhood, it wasn’t very surprising that I received a lot of judging looks from the inhabitants of the neighbourhood.
