day seventeen

Today, I brought my ukulele with me to school. Bringing a ukulele wasn't that eventful. But playing a ukulele is. I sat at me and Riley's usual meeting spot, and started playing some songs I know. At first it was peaceful, that's until my friends showed up. Followed by my other tutormates, and other people who I never encounter inside the campus. This isn't a normal day. Wow!

"Nat?" I heard someone called me. I looked up, and saw Riley waving a hand at me. With his existence in front of me, I felt my cheeks burn a bit. I knew I was blushing. I kept singing until the last line of the song. "That's all for today people!" I exclaimed and the crowd decreased in number.

"So.." I started, as I prolonged the 'O' sound. "What do you need from me, Mr. McDonough?"

"Woah! Didn't know you could play the ukulele. Really know? You're more musical than me?"

"Riley McDonough and Music? Seriously now. Thought you were all just academics and school-related stuff. I honestly can't imagine you with an instrument. Now back to the first question."

"I thought maybe you would want to skip tutor class?"

My eyes widened. "NO! Not today Riley. Not ever! I will never get influenced by your mischievous skipping school stuff acts. Have you even noticed that you're failing already? What has gotten in to you?"

"Since when did you care?" he answered back. I haven't realized the distance of our faces from each other until now. He was so close that one word will make a wrong move towards him.

'Since when did I care? Since you've been such an inspiration to me. Your grades are high and I wish I could be you.' I wanted to say. But again, I can't. He was too close to me.

"Thought so." he said as he removed the close distance we had a few seconds ago.

"Since I've met you." I said, and he froze before he could even continue walking. "Look Riley. To me, you were a mystery. Until this day, you are still a mystery. I do not understand why you were annoying, but I honestly like it." WHY THE HELL DID I SAY THAT. "The moment you've gotten all sweet? I knew there was something fishy. You weren't the old annoying Riley who would break a pencil right in front of me and ask me if I had an extra one, when I am in the middle of practicing math problems. You were showing another side of yourself that made me appreciate, for once, the great Riley McDonough. You were already an inspiration to me even before you knew it. C'mon dude! A batch topnotcher? Who wouldn't get inspired?"

"Hey, I'm still me. I haven't cha-"

"Yes you have. There is something Riley. For the past week or so, you haven't showed up in tutor classes. Even on Saturdays."

"Couldn't I be busy?"

"You weren't busy. You were hanging out with your friends and planning for something. Was that more important to you? You are failing, Ri." I sighed loudly, and looked at him straight in the eyes. I was mesmerized by his eyes for a while, but I didn't focus much on that. "This conversation is useless. I have to go now."

That's when I started walking to the tutor center.

A/N:

Well, who wants a Riley POV for the next chapter? This isn't much of a chick flick moment, (hehe. Dean Winchester. hehe.) but hey! The next chapter might be! I can already imagine the next chapter, tbh. ahaha. Anyways, until the next chapter!

NEXT UPDATE: Later or Tomorrow or Sunday :)
