A/N: This is the first day of semester two at Bethany District Secondary School in the town of Bethany. (Not going to specify whot province) The Canadian town has been lucky enough to not get much snow now but the snow is rising outside. This is Brendon's pov btw.

I walked in and headed to my first class of the day. Not wanting to deal with people today, I went and sat in the back of the art room in my seat from last year. That's when I noticed the little ginger. He's a few inches shorter than me and his eyes are beautiful. I've drawn them in many things. Notebooks, sketchbooks, in a book once and a math textbook. Mischa and I have gone to school together since kindergarten. He used to be a happy little thing. He could always lighten my mood with those pretty eyes. His wavy, slightly curly ginger hair fit him so well when we were younger. It gave him more life and added to his happiness. Even when he was so burnt he looked like an actual tomato. It's adorable now too but it would look better with his smile that I haven't seen in a while. A long while. We used to be fairly close in a little group of friends and then come grade nine, they decided they were too good for us and another girl and that destroyed him. He won't talk to me though. It hurts to see him so, lonely and quiet. Do I have a lil crush? Fuck yes I do.

I turned my attention back to my phone in my hand until class started. When the teacher was getting set up, I turned to talk to Mischa. There's no one near us so it's fine.
"Psst. Mischa?" I whispered. He's two desks over, he should've heard me. He turned his head a little and peeked at me from his lashes. Fuck.
"What other classes do you have this sem?" I asked.
"Math with Cumberbatch." He replied quietly. I got excited. I have math with Cumberbatch.
"When?" I asked.
"After this." He responded. I looked into his eyes and the emotion in them was amazing but sad to see at the same time.
"Cool! We have math together too!" I said with a smile. He flashed a little, but fake, smile and turned his head back to his sketchbook. Is he not happy that we have math together? Is he mad at me? After our old "friends" cast us out, Mischa retreated into himself. Didn't talk to me or the other girl. I understand him not talking to her, she was mean to Mischa but he just brushed it off. Or he tried to anyway. It hurt that he didn't talk to me. I never had bad feelings toward him. Ever. I don't think I could even if I tried. The pain in his eyes all the time makes it very hard to not hug him and just let him cry his little heart out.

When the bell rang at the end of the class, I blinked and the little bugger was gone. I rushed to the door after him and his little form was eaten by the crowd. I sighed and started going to meet my friend Sara. She's rather easy to spot. Her head is like a pink fucking highlighter but the pink hair suits her. I met up with her and we found a spot to talk.
"How was art?" She asked.
"Great! I think I might be starting to talk to Mischa again." I said looking at her. She smiled a little.
"The kid you wouldn't shut up about and randomly sprayed sunscreen on last year? That Misha?" She asked.
"He's a ginger and burns easily. He and I used to be close. If I can show him that I'm here for him that might save him from doing something to himself." I said looking around.
"That's fair. If you can get him to come with us at lunch, I'm sure Riley and Sam will love another person in the group!" She said with a smile.
"I'm going to try my hardest." I said looking at her.
"Good. I gotta go so Clifford doesn't kill me." She said and patted my shoulder.
"See ya." I said and we went our separate ways. I went downstairs and to math.

I went in and saw that Mischa had put himself in the back left corner and some of the nice jocks have put themselves between him and the meaner ones. I sighed and saw the empty seat to his right. One, Seb, waved at me subtly and motioned to the empty seat. I nodded and went to make myself comfortable. There weren't many people in the room at this point.
"I don't care where y'all sit but if you're going to get rowdy and or pick on Mischa, you're going to get moved or sent upstairs." Cumberbatch said to the jocks.
"I'll keep 'em off him and I'll try to keep 'em quiet." Seb said. Mischa looked up at the back of Seb's head and when Seb went to turn, Mischa looked back down at his phone.
"Thank you Seb." Mr. Cumberbatch said. A few more girls came in the room and I noticed that there were only 18 people in this class. The girls sat together in the front right corner of the room and Mr. Cumberbatch started with class.

We really only went through the paperwork and joining the google classroom and some surveys. One some of the questions surprised me.
What's your orientation? Lesbian, Gay, Straight, Bi, Pan, Questioning, Other
Gay
What's your favourite song?
Build God, Then We'll Talk -P!ATD closely followed by Homicide -Logic/Eminem
On a scale of 1-10, how much do you hate math? 1 being I don't mind it and 10 being it's the fu*cking worst.

I enjoyed the last one. I clicked on a five and carried on. Mischa got me into Panic! At The Disco actually. And some musicals. And some other bands. When I finished the survey, I turned it in and leaned back on my chair. I glanced at Mischa and noticed he was watching something on his laptop. He didn't have the captions on and I didn't see a cord for earbuds. Bluetooth maybe?
"Alright ladies and germs, I mean, gents. I don't care where you sit. Just don't be rowdy. Pay attention and we can listen to music when I give you time to do homework at the end of class. This class has the opportunity to be chill and I'd rather not have an uptight class for an hour and fifteen minutes. I'll close the door most of the time, mostly to keep the heat and ac in when we need them and I have a tendency to swear. Are any of you going to go home and complain to your parents?" He asked looking around the room. There were a series of head shakes and no and nopes and he took that as good enough. The bell went and everyone started to pack up.
"See y'all tomorrow." He said and sat at his desk. I looked at Mischa.

"Hey, wanna come with me and my friends at lunch?" I asked. He continued to pack up.
"I have to go to guidance then home. Sorry." He said quietly.
"That's alright! Maybe another time then?" I asked.
"Sure." He replied quietly. I don't like this Mischa. Not one bit.
"I'll walk you up to the guidance office." I said. Mischa looked up at me for a second and then back down.
"You don't have to."
"I know. I want to." I said and we started walking. It's a short walk and I want him to know that I'm not leaving him. I let him walk the first time and it's not fucking happening again. Not a chance in hell.

I stopped him before he opened the door.
"You still have the same number right?" I asked.
"Why?"
"So then we can communicate outside of school?"
"Oh. Y-yeah." He replied. Since when does he stutter?
"Good. I'll see ya later." I said and watched as he quickly disappeared into the guidance office. I turned and went to lunch.

I never did see Mischa for the rest of the day. We even got snowed into the school and were told to go back to our first period classes until they could dig the doors out and Mischa wasn't there. Mr. Cumberbatch just skipped over his name like he was never in class in the first place. I texted him and got no reply. I started to worry.
