After a few days had gone and Merida and Hiccup became close friends. Along with Angus and Toothless. Merida would spend the days with Angus and Toothless but by afternoon Hiccup would come around. They would just hangout doing what ever came to mind. But eventually Hiccup thought something else. He no longer looked at Merida as a friend. He was developing a crush on her but he couldn't show it, afraid that Merida did not feel the same.
"Look at her. She is everything I ever wanted. Fierce but gentle. Bursting with creativity, humor, and playfulness. She's perfect." Hiccup thought to himself during Dragon lessons. Astrid could tell he wasn't paying attention and was off thinking about something else. So she decided to follow him when he disappeared after class. Astrid followed him much like Merida did, but confronted him she didn't hide.
"Hiccup?! Who is that girl? Is that a dragon ?! " Astrid exclaimed .
"Um.... I can introduce myself thanks. I'm Merida. I'm new and Hiccup's been helping me out." Merida said mainly to break the awkward silence.
"I'm Astrid. But more on me later, HICCUP! WHY DO YOU HAVE A DRAGON? AND WHY IS IT ALIVE STILL?" Merida could tell that Astrid was furious. It was very awkward. All Hiccup could get out was " Uh um ah uh eh. " He was so nervous that Astrid was going to rat him out about Toothless that he fainted.
Merida and Astrid got to talking and Merida explained everything about why she was in Berk.
" So wait your a princess?"
"Unfortunately."
"Does Hiccup know?
"Nope. I didn't want special treatment ."
When Hiccup finally came to he saw that Astrid and Merida were laughing so he went home. Merida showed Astrid that dragons were okay and not evil, and of course introduced her to Angus. They talked all night, Merida was loving Berk and felt that it was where she was meant to be.
