Being a pre-med major with a political science minor left Samwell very little time for dating. In fact, he hadn't dated at all since he and Gilly ended things. Sam was okay with that since he was always busy studying anyway. That didn't stop his friends from constantly badgering him to get a date, a girlfriend, or get laid. Finally, Sam had enough.
"I have a girlfriend, alright?!" Edd, Grenn, and Pyp exchanged a glance. "Oh yeah? Who is she then?" Sam glanced quickly around and his eyes landed on you. You were a political science student and shared a couple of classes with Sam. Even though you talk didn't much, whenever you did, you spoke softly but with passion. Sam thought you were intelligent and beautiful and had wanted to ask you out for coffee for a while now. He never got the chance before that moment.
"Y/F/N," he answered his friends. He spoke just loudly enough for you to hear him. You looked over with a smile, said something to your friends, and walked over to join them. Sam instantly wrapped his arms around you. "Could you do me a favor and go with it, please?" he whispered. He pulled back and grinned at his friends.
"Y/N and I have a coffee date between classes, actually so we need to leave." He took your hand in his and pulled you after him. As soon as you were out of sight of his friends, you turned to Sam. "So, we have a date, huh?" you asked. Sam's face turned scarlet. "I'm sorry. I panicked, you know? They just kept pressuring me to get a girlfriend. You were the first person I saw," he lied. You let out a hum and nodded thoughtfully.
"Alright then, let's go." You grabbed his hand and pulled him after you. "W-What?" You giggled at his shyness and reminded him that his friends would want to know about the "date" later. The blush never left Sam's face as you pulled him along toward the coffee shop on campus. Once there, you let go of his hand and sat across from him. "So, tell me about yourself, Sam."
*time skip*
Sam ran a hand over his face. He couldn't seem to focus on studying and hadn't been able to for a while. Not since the two of you started hanging out regularly. Sam cleared his throat and went back to the books. He tried not to think about how your hand felt in his. How your eyes sparkled merrily when you poked fun at him. How you were always ready to cheer him up when he had a bad day. He tried really hard not to think about any of that.
His attempt was short lived when the door to his dorm was flung open. "Tarly, you may want to come down to the coffee shop with us," Grenn said. Sam groaned lightly and complained about needing to study. "Ramsay Bolton is down there hitting on her." Sam was up in an instant. Ramsay Bolton was quite the charmer when he wanted to be and Sam didn't want you to fall victim to his charms.
It didn't take Sam as long as it normally would have to reach the coffee shop. His mind was focused on one thing. Not losing you to Ramsay frickin' Bolton. As soon as Sam set eyes on you, he marched over with pure determination in his eyes. When you saw him, you smiled. "Hey, S-" your greeting was cut off by Sam's lips capturing yours in a heated kiss.
Cheers erupted all around you but Sam didn't care in that moment. You pulled away from him, panting heavily. "What was that about?" you asked between gasps. Sam didn't answer. He simply took your arm and pulled you away from the crowd. You protested the entire way until Sam finally stopped and let you go.
"Samwell Tarly! What in the world was that about?" you asked, crossing your arms. Sam cleared his throat, unsure of how to answer you. "I, uh, I-" You held up a hand to stop him from talking. Sam took a moment to take in your expression. Much to his surprise, you didn't look angry. Slightly embarrassed maybe, but not angry. If anything, you looked amused. It confused Sam.
"I didn't think you could get that jealous," you murmured. Sam felt his face heat up and knew he was blushing again. You always managed to make him do that. "I w-wasn't...I wasn't jealous," he muttered, making you giggle. You reached over and pushed back a bit of hair that had fallen onto his forehead. "Yes you were. But you didn't need to be. I've never had any interest in Ramsay. I only want to be with you."
Sam looked at you in surprise. "Really?" You nodded with a smile. Sam wrapped his arms around you in a comforting hug. "I have a confession," he whispered into your hair. At your hum of acknowledgement, he continued, "You weren't the first person I saw that day. I'd always wanted to ask you on a date." You pulled back a little, the grin still on your lips. "I have a confession too. I always wanted you to ask me."
"So what does that make us now?" Sam asked. You backed away fully and took his hand in yours. "I think that makes us dating, Sam...for real this time." Sam laughed as he leaned over and pressed a kiss to your forehead. "I like that." You giggled. "Me too, Sam."
