Chapter 30

I woke up feeling like I slept on a bag of bricks. Opening my eyes with a groan, I checked the time and it was 6:12am. I found Amari lying down beside me and ran my fingers over her cheek as I tried to think back and remember why I slept on the floor with the TV on. I froze when someone next to me moved and an arm came around me. Seeing the familiar fingers, I relaxed a little. It was just Leo. Just Leo. I sat up with a start when I realised that Leo, Amari and I were asleep on the floor. It had just been Leo and I but Amari had joined us sometime in the night. I didn't think that was proper.

I groaned and tapped him in an attempt to wake him up and it didn't take much to wake him up. "Sup?" he asked sleepily and I yawned. "It's morning." I scratched my neck and he sighed before sitting up. I wouldn't have woken him up if we were in a room but we were in the living room and my mum would be out soon. He got off the floor and sat on the couch and then laid down and fell asleep again. This time, I didn't disturb him because he wouldn't be in the way of vacuuming. I took a sleeping Amari back to her room and then returned the bedsheets, blanket and pillows to my own room and washed my face before moving to prepare breakfast and tidy up. I smiled a little when I felt Leo bury his face in my neck while his arms came around me.

"Hi baby. Good morning." he mumbled into my neck and I removed the last waffle from the waffle maker and then turned off the gas so the egg wouldn't burn.

"Hi goober. Sleep well?" I asked when I turned to face him and he nodded and yawned in my face. "Eww" I said with a chuckle and then stuck three of my fingers into his mouth and that cut the yawn short as his eyes widened. I laughed and took them out.

"What was that?" he asked.

"That was me asserting my dominance. You yawned in my face. What were you expecting? That I'd stand here and take it like a bitch?" I said with a smug look on my face and he rolled his eyes.

"And I'm the goober." he replied with a roll of his eyes.

"Uh huh."

"You can easily do that in bed you know? Tie me up and make me call you mistress. Make me your bitch." He deadpanned and after a moment of silence, we burst out laughing because it was a funny picture to imagine. Imagine me in leather with a riding crop making him call me mistress.

"I will smack your bum hard enough to leave fingerprints and maybe choke you a little." I played along.

"Ohhhh. Looky who we have here. Kinky Yana."

"You love it."

"You know it." He replied with a grin.

"You are both so sweet I want to vomit." I heard my mum say and Leo pulled away like someone caught doing something wrong. Well, I couldn't blame him. I'd pull away too if my girlfriend's mum walked in on us cracking dirty jokes so early in the morning.

"Good morning Mrs Garvey." He said and my mum hmm-ed and I chuckled. She woke up cranky and her morning cranky side is sarcastic and brutal. It was more funny than it was anything else.

"Leave my kitchen both of you." she said and I rolled my eyes.

"I already finished making breakfast mum. Just sit down lemme set the table and dish it." I replied and she nodded and left the kitchen. I pulled the plates out and placed Leo's before him, my mum's plate where she was to seat and then mine and Amari's. After calling my mum and telling her it was ready, I made my way to Amari's room to wake her up. However, I heard her scream and it sent a shill down my spine and I broke into a run. My heartbeat sped up in my chest and I imagined the worst. Maybe Martha got to her. Maybe Martha broke into her room to take her. Maybe...
