Derek's POV
I headed to what looked to be the staff room after Noah left to go outside. I walked behind the dingy front desk to get to the door. To my surprise it was unlocked, allowing me to just walk in. The room was empty with nothing but a couch and an old coffee machine. I continued walking until I hit a staircase leading down. I glanced behind me to make sure no one was there then followed them into what must have been the basement.
To my right were shelves filled glass vials of all colors. The scene looked like something a witch would use in a corny movie. To my left was a wall covered with weapons ranging from small knives to shotguns.
As I turned right to further investigate the weird liquids, I noticed a glass case sitting on the second shelf. Inside was a tube of red liquid that I assumed was blood. Willow's blood. I realized that there was a lock on the case, preventing me from retrieving the blood. I shuffled over to the wall of armory to grab something capable of breaking the glass when I heard a scream. It sounded like a girl's scream meaning it had to be Ally.
I dropped what I was doing and ran towards our room, terrified of what she might be screaming about. I cared for Ally. Not in the I want to rip your clothes off kind of way, but in the I know all of your secrets and would die if something happened to you sort of way.
I glanced around for Noah in the front lobby area but he was nowhere to be found. I then ran through the halls suddenly wishing the room wasn't the farthest one from the lobby. I skidded to a stop when I made it only to find the lady that gave us the room holding a knife to Ally's throat. She had a look of fear mixed with strength in her eyes that was quietly pleading for help.
"Soon you'll understand why I did what I'm about to do..... you just have to be patient, my dear," the rough woman said in a soft voice. I was curious to see what she was talking about but I didn't want to rick Ally's life to find out. That's why I risked mine instead.
"Wait!" I called out, stepping further into the room. The woman turned her attention to me but didn't talk the knife away for Ally's throat. "Don't hurt her.... please," I pleaded.
"And why should I listen to you?"
"Because...because you can do whatever you were planning on to me," I said immediately regretting it. She finally released her grip on Ally and moved closer to me.
"Oh lookie here, we have a hero," she purred rubbing the tip of her finger over the blade. It was only then that I noticed purple goo on it. What it was for I did not know.
"Ya, well, umm.." Ally looked at me with a sense of knowledge that I couldn't quite read. She walked towards the woman that was currently looking like she was ready to stab me. Which I guess she was because as I saw Ally aim the gun she kept in her bootleg at her, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.
I looked down to see the knife piercing through me. As I looked back up I heard a gunshot come from Ally's gun. I collapsed onto the floor, my vision going hazy.

My eyes slowly opened, showing the bright light. I tried to sit up from wherever I was when a pair of hands pushed me back down.
"Take it easy, lay down," Ally said with a soft smile. Noah was sitting on the edge of the bed of our room, telling me that I must've been on the couch.
"Nice of you to show up," I said to him in somewhat of a joking manner.
"Ya, ya. How do you feel?" he asked, standing up.
"Um, fine, I guess. What happened?"
"Well, the lady that gave us the room attacked me and you helped, getting stabbed in the process. But don't worry, I shot her in the hip and she ran away," Ally explained lifting up my shirt to check my wound.
"So, what do you think she wanted? Just to kill someone?" I asked.
"I mean, it's not the craziest explanation. People are murdered every day. She could've just been a crazy killer," Noah said as he paced the room.
Ally leaned down, placing a warm cloth on my forehead that relieved the sharp headache I had. As she smiled down at me and looked into her eyes, I couldn't help but feel the urge to hurt her. To choke her, stab her, or anything that inflicted pain. I didn't know why I was feeling this but there was nothing the would make it go away. It took everything in me not choke her and I hated it. I hated that I suddenly had no control. I hated that this feeling was directed towards someone I cared for and would never hurt.
"You okay?" she asked. I gave a weak smile and nodded. She seemed to be satisfied with my answer and looked away. I was glad when she stood up leaving me because I wasn't sure that I could resist my urges if she stayed any longer. What was happening to me?
I watched as she talked to Noah about life before all of this. There was something in his eyes that I recognized as happiness. Was he happy to be here? Was he happy to be talking to Ally? That's when it hit me: in the short time he'd known her, Noah developed a little crush for Ally.
I felt a ping of jealousy that seemed so bizarre and so random that I nearly missed it. Why was I feeling this? I didn't ever have a thing for Ally? I wasn't sure if I was willing to allow myself to have a thing for her. I didn't want to hurt her but that seemed to be what I was good at when it came to relationships.
"I think you need some rest, Derek," Ally said as she walked over to where I was.
"Ya, you're right... wake me up in a couple of hours," I said as I drifted to sleep with a million thoughts in my head.
A/N This chapter isn't what I expected it to be but I really love how it turned out. Do you guys like Derek or hate him? I hope you enjoyed!!
