Much as some of us fight it, our parents have a mystical hold over us. The power to affect our thoughts, emotions the way that they can. It's the bond that changes over time but doesn't diminish. Even if they are half the world away or in another world entirely. It's the power we seem to never fully understand and we are left only to wonder that when our time comes, what kind of hold will we have over our children?
Even if we don't get on with our parents like arguing with them about numerous things that are not really that important, our parents are only there as a guide, a protector in many ways and will always love their children even if they make bad choices. Mistakes. But that is the whole reason why we have parents. They are the ones that help their children to learn from their mistakes and how to know right from wrong. This is probably why fairy tales exist as they are there to teach children morals and they have messages to help and encourage them to learn right from wrong and that it's okay to make mistakes along the way since that is the whole point of growing up.
