"Love is only painful when it lies, That’s why it’s okay to fight. That’s what makes us human. Every time we lose it, You find how a heart aches. Every day has ruins, But we know what the truth is. Sometimes you gotta break just to know you’re human, human"

For the next few days after being pushed out of the window, Lola was stuck at home, unable to go anywhere. Luckily, she had only badly sprained her ankle rather than fracturing it so, by now, she was able to put weight on it and move around.

Her dad had been very protective of her since he found out what happened and wouldn't let her go anything for herself. Even now, when she was able to walk around with only a slight limp, he insisted that she had to stay home from school.

"Good morning, I made you breakfast" Blake Carter said as he entered his daughter's room with a plate stacked with pancakes. Lola smiled gratefully at her dad as she accepted the plate of food. "Dad, I love you, but I can make my own breakfast" she stated, hating that he as doing everything for her when she didn't need to.

"I know, I'm just worried about you" he sighed as he sat on her bed next to her, drinking from his cup of morning coffee. Lola raised her eyebrows at him as she took a bite out of a pancake, savouring the taste of the maple syrup.

"Please tell me you're at least going to let me out of the house for prom tomorrow night" she begged, looking up at her dad pleadingly. He stared back at her for a moment as he thought about it. Deep down, He knew that she was fine and that her ankle was almost better, but that wasn't really what he was worried about.

What bothered him the most was that his daughter could have been seriously injured from that fall and he wasn't there to help her; it could've been so much worse than it had been. However, he knew he couldn't keep her locked up in her bedroom forever.

"Fine. But if anything happens I want to know about it, okay?" he eventually replied with a serious tone. A grin spread across Lola's face as she leaned forward and trapped her father in a tight hug, repeatedly thanking him. She didn't even have a date to prom but there was no way in hell she wanted to miss it.
