She can't stand it any longer; she has to get out of there. Robin's wife has just returned from the past, a past where The Evil Queen was her murderer. Of course she was, she'd killed thousands of people, why would fate let his wife be an acceptation to that. Maybe this was karmas twisted way of punishment, finally give her the ending she'd worked for, and then rip it to shreds. Why did she even believe she could win, just because she used light magic? No. she's the evil queen, always has been always will be. Regina runs as fast as she can from the dinner, away from Robin and his rekindled romance. She runs out of the diner as fast as her legs would carry her, she's scared of what her magic could do in this state of mind. She didn't even notice how much colder Storybrooke had suddenly become. No one would even notice, or so she thought.
----------------------------------------
The minute the diner door shut everyone froze and looked towards the now closed door. Every soul in Granny's in that moment realized, while they swooned over the reuniting of this long lost couple, another love had gone down in shambles. Everyone looked horrified, but felt conflicted; how were they to tell this man this was wrong, to go after this woman rather than stay with his wife? Regina deserved at least a proper goodbye. Little did they know Robin was in a worse position than anyone could ever begin to believe. He has an obligation to be here, with the woman he married, the mother of his son. But she's Regina. She's the best thing to have happened to him since Roland. She's his second chance. She's his soul mate.
Then there's Marion. He can't just abandon her, not after what she's been through, escaping death and being brought 30 years into the future in a new land where the Evil Queen is a hero. That's completely beyond his nature, no matter how much he wants to hold Regina instead of Marion. It's been 30 years for god sakes, he's moved on, learned to live without her, learned to love again, and he isn't so sure he wants to throw that all away. Then he remembers the one thing his mother always said to him as a young boy, the thing that's made his life the way it is. "If you truly loved the first you wouldn't have fallen for the second. Choose carefully my boy." The choice is simple, too simple in fact, he chooses Regina but, not now, not yet. He'll stay with Marion long enough to get her settled, let Roland know his mother, and then he'll go to her. Until then he has to let her that she's the one he's chosen, he can't let her believe anything else, he can't risk her falling apart after all they've built.
"Marion, I... I'll be right back. I have to take care of something then I'll be back for you and Roland ok?'
"Alright..."
At that Robin's out the door, running towards the Mills Mansion. She has to be there, she has to be. Upon arriving he sees her kitchen light on, a true indicator that she's home, but for Robin, not a very good sign. She's only ever told him how when she's upset she heads strait to the kitchen for one of two reasons, bake out her feelings (apple anything usually) or cry. It's always been the one place she can be at peace. He enters through the front door with caution, not wanting to startle her, and of course, he comes across the worst. There's Regina head between her knees crying with her back to the lower cabinets (of course she believes to be alone, she'd never let anyone, even Robin see her this way.)
"Regina...?"
Regina Jerks up at the sudden voice in her kitchen, already knowing whom it belongs too.
"Just leave me alone Robin, go back to your wife." Regina spats, stumbling on the last word.
"No Regina, you have to know, ii have an obligation to stay, but more importantly you have to know that I"
"I don't need you to give me this speech Robin," She yells, cutting him off, "I don't need the break up speech from you, the picture is perfectly clear, now leave, I would like to be alone."
And at that she disappears in a purple cloud of smoke, into her Bedroom with the door locked. She will not be a home wrecker, she has too many other reputations in this town she doesn't need another. Roland deserves his mother, and she'll give him that. She'll just have to learn to move on, that being easier said than done, besides, they are soul mates after all.
Robin knows there's no use in trying, he'll have to wait, wait until he can prove to her that he is as much hers as he wishes she was still his. As long as he's still with his wife she'll never believe him, she's been broken too many times for that. So with these thoughts in mind, he leaves, knowing he'll be back soon.
