Regina went into her kitchen and grabbed an apple from a bowl on the counter. She didn't want to waist time going all the way to granny's this morning, she just wanted to hurry to Snow's.
As she walked down the side walk, occasionally taking a bite from her apple, Regina pondered exactly how to break the news. She needed to make it special, after all Snow's the one that pushed her to kiss Robin that night oh so long ago in the woods in the first place. Should she just not say anything and hope Snow noticed? No too subtle, she'd be there forever. Should she just blurt it out loud the moment Snow opened the door? No that's a bit too much. Then, the light bulb came on, she knew exactly how she'd do this.
Once she arrived on Snow's doorstep she went over her plan in her head once more, and knocked.
"Good morning Regina! What brings you here?" Snow greeted as her normal cheerful self.
"Oh not much, just wanted to chat that's all dear." Regina said, though go Snow could see through her like no other.
"Regina what's going on, something's off and don't tell me nothing cause we both know I haven't fallen for that crap in a long time." Snow said as she shut the door behind Regina who was now leaning against the counter.
"Really it's nothing. Why does everything have to be something?"
"Well if you haven't noticed nothing about us is normal, snow queens, wicked witches, we never seem to catch a break!"
Regina laughed then winced in pain. Snow was by her side in an instant. "Oh god Regina are you ok?"
"Yah I'm fine, my hand just really hurts." Regina said as if in pain. "Must be all this extra weight..." Regina said holding her left hand high, all signs of pain gone.
"OH MY GOD REGINA MILLS IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?" Snow yelled nearly more ecstatic than Regina was herself.
"Little bit." Regina stated plain as day with the biggest smile Snow had ever seen.
Snow took her hand and studied the ring. It was gorgeous. Snow was in awe, not completely over the ring but of how far she's managed to come.
"Snow deary what is it? You ok?"
Snow looked up at Regina, for the first time acknowledging the tears going down her own cheeks.
"Yah I'm ok...just never thought we'd get here. We've managed to go from being at the top of each others hit lists to a family. You know even back all those years ago I had faith in you, I always knew you'd find happiness and we would be able to find this balance. I'm so proud of you Regina, I know that should be the other way around you being my mother and all but-"
"Your mother?" Regina cut off Snow with an inquisitive glare.
"Well of course, even with all we went through I always saw you as a mother. You may not have shown your love, ok you really may not have shown your love, but it was always there. At my fathers funeral when you told me you'd always be there, I knew you meant it, and you knew it too. That's when I knew you were someone I could trust, even with all we went through. Anyway, I am proud of how far you've managed to come and I hope you know that you deserve every last bit of it."
Regina looked at Snow with tear stained cheeks. Suddenly Snow was engulfed in a hug. "Thank you."
"Of course." Snow pulled away. "Coffee?"
"Yes please" Snow set to work on the coffee as Regina pondered about various things.
"You wanna share those thoughts or am I gonna have to guess?" Snow asked dragging Regina from her thoughts.
"I was just thinking about the wedding. I have so many ideas. Robin and I were wondering if you and David would want to join us for dinner and discuss some details. It seems right that the maid of honor and best man would help with preparations."
"Are you asking what I thing you're asking?" Snow questioned as she sat Regina's coffee and two sugars in front of her.
"You know exactly what I'm asking. So will you?" Regina said stirring her coffee, glancing at Snow as if it were an everyday question.
"Hell yes!"
They sat and discussed Neal and many things, waiting till dinner to discuss any wedding details.
