There is no mistaking it. Writing historically accurate events is difficult. Here are some sites and tips for when you come acrossed this chronological catastrophe.
My best advice for this is to do your research. For each country, their history is different and specific to that country. There are plenty of great sites for each country explaining, in detail, your chosen country's history.
Stay off wikipedia. First hand accounts are cool, but fact checking is smart.
The best advice I can give you is to be thorough and do your research. Looking at maps, charts, graphs, videos, documentaries, and things like that is a very good idea. Take detailed notes and be sure to cross check everything.
School textbooks are biased. Don't use those if you can avoid it. You ok nly ever hear the history that the government thinks you should know.
Just know that you can't learn everything. There will be mistakes. That is where peer review comes in. Choose someone who knows the history that you are researching and let them take a look. Listen to what they have to say.
